We know that many customers would prefer to travel from their local airports for convenience and therefore we have drawn up a list of options which are available on many of the holidays featured in this brochure. Please read the following and if you would like further information, feel free to call our Reservations team on 0844 815 0001 and they would be delighted to assist you.
Option 1 Where possible we will offer flights from both London and Manchester, sometimes at no extra cost. Please see the All You Need To Know box on the page of your chosen holiday. The exceptions to this will be if we have sold out of our allocation or if the booking is within 8 weeks of departure and we have released the seats back to the airline. In these cases we will need to request the seat back from the airline and therefore a supplement may be applicable.
Option 2 If you would prefer to travel directly to your holiday location from another regional airport, please refer to the regional flight grid on pages 217-218 to check that there is a direct flight from your chosen airport. Then please call our Reservations team who will be happy to check availability and prices for you. In these circumstances, we will happily make this booking for you and add the difference in cost of the new flight to your reservation. Please note that flight prices are set by the airlines and often fluctuate from day to day. It is Solo’s policy to pass on the exact charge made by the airline and any variation in price is strictly out of our control. Please note there may be occasions when we are unable to offer direct regional flights in order to manage our committed seats, as advertised within the holiday package.
Option 3 If you do not wish to take either of the above options and would prefer to book your own flight, we are happy to quote the holiday price for land only. This means that both the flight cost and the transfers have been deducted.
You should note that, when travelling from a regional airport, you may not meet other Solo’s customers until you arrive at your hotel in resort.
Transfers If you are taking your own flights (option 3) or we have booked a direct regional flight for you that has not been included in the package (option 2), you will have the choice, where possible, of joining the Solo’s group transfer or booking a separate transfer (at an additional cost). Please note this may be on your own or with another Solo’s customer. It is important to note that we are not able to accept responsibility for missed transfers due to flight delays or any other circumstances beyond our control.
Check in On some holidays, our Tour Leaders will already be in the resort waiting to greet you on arrival at either the airport or the hotel. Therefore, we have airport representatives on hand for all departures from London Gatwick, London Heathrow, London Stansted, and Manchester to help smooth your check-in (subject to flight times). If you think you may need extra assistance, please advise our Reservations team of your requirements so that these can be passed on to our representatives.
We recommend that you get to the airport at least two hours prior to departure as some airlines can close check-in up to one hour prior to departure and arriving late can mean being denied check-in and boarding.
Meals Many airlines no longer provide meals on short-haul flights but may do so for purchase on board; please see your flight tickets for details.
Flight & rail times Please note that all flight times stated in the brochure are correct at time of going to print. Flight and rail times can change frequently. We will advise you of any major changes of 30 minutes or more as soon as possible. All other changes will be updated on your tickets.
Should no-frills flights be booked on your behalf, full payment will be taken at the time of booking to secure the fare quoted.
If we book your connecting flight
This forms part of your package and we will help in the case of international schedule changes or unforeseen date changes by us after brochure issue. If we cancel your holiday due to low numbers, we will cancel your connecting flight at no charge to you. Payment is taken for connecting flights at time of booking, is non-refundable and is subject to an administration fee of £15.
If you book your own connecting flight
This does not form part of your package and you will be responsible for any changes required in the case of international schedule changes or unforeseen date changes by us after brochure issue. If we cancel your holiday due to low numbers, we will not be responsible for your connecting flight. We recommend a minimum of three hours connection time between international and domestic flights (luggage will not be able to be checked-through).
Important Information
All airlines insist that we adhere to strict deadlines for releasing any unsold seats back to them; this deadline is normally two months before the departure date of the holiday. This means that if you leave your booking until close to the departure date, it is sometimes impossible to obtain a seat for you on the group flight or at the group fare.
This can also be the case if we have sold all of our original allocation. In either case, it may mean additional costs for either the flight or for a separate transfer on top of the published price of the holiday. We therefore strongly recommend that you book your holiday preferably more than eight weeks before the departure date. We understand that this is not always possible and therefore we will be happy to book you the best alternative available. Please note that for late bookings where tickets are issued at the airport, a £15 fee may be charged.
We offer a wide and varied range of holidays throughout the world, and in doing so, use many different categories of hotels. Standards can vary between hotels of the same class in different countries and even in the same country. For example, city hotels that often cater for business as well as leisure travellers may well have higher standards than a beach resort hotel where the whole atmosphere tends to be more relaxed.
Accommodation is chosen for each holiday based on a number of criteria including location of the property, room and hotel facilities, value for money, customer service and feedback from our team and clients. Official hotel ratings vary greatly between countries and useful comparisons are therefore hard to make, so we have introduced our own system of rating hotels to provide a more consistent guide. This ranges from 2-5 ticks; 2 ticks offers simple, but comfortable accommodation to 4 ticks + for a higher quality hotel.
