Saint Lucia

Going Solo in Saint Lucia

Boasting some of the Caribbean's most stunning mountain scenery, Saint Lucia is ideal for both rejuvenation and adventure. Wherever you go, there's the beautiful backdrop of tropical mountain scenery, including the famous towering Pitons. This is a truly exotic and colourful destination.

Island of Impressions

There are fabulous beaches, stunning coral reefs (especially around Soufriére) and over 18,000 acres of rainforest, banana and coconut plantations waiting for you to explore. Many islanders speak a local patois and the French influence from the 18th century can still be felt in the place names and some of the cuisine. With its hidden waterfalls, breathtaking views, friendly locals and authentic culture, the island won't fail to impress even the most travelled individuals.

Amidst banana, mango and avocado plantations, Saint Lucia reveals itself with a welcome which far exceeds its size. There's relaxing in the Caribbean and then there's staying at The BodyHoliday. As its name suggests, a holiday at this beautiful beachfront resort will energise, soothe and revitalise your body and soul. The BodyHoliday has the most comprehensive wellness centre in the Caribbean and offers an extensive range of fabulous treatments. For the more energetic, there's a superb range of complimentary water sports, outdoor activities and exercise classes to choose from. Single travellers are made especially welcome here.

Rodney Bay Beckons

Situated in the north west of Saint Lucia, Rodney Bay has some of the best shopping, bars and restaurants on the island. Although the Saint Lucian nightlife pace is very relaxed, Rodney Bay has a wide choice of bars with live music. About a mile north of Rodney Bay is Gros Islet village, where the much loved Friday night 'jump up' takes place. Rodney Bay is also a mecca for yachting, plus it is here that the island's longest stretch of white sand, Reduit Beach, can be found.

Activation & Relaxation

The island's terrain makes it ideal for outdoor activities and adventure seekers alike. Hiking, mountain biking and horse riding are all popular pursuits, or just relax by the beautiful beaches, enjoy the water sports and take life easy with a good book. It's always a great idea to get out and about on holiday and Saint Lucia is a wonderful island to explore. Get a bird's eye view and take a helicopter flight over the island or visit the Diamond Estate Botanical Gardens, waterfall and mineral baths. Alternatively a browse through bustling Castries market is great fun.

Food & Drink

As you might expect in such lush tropical surroundings, the fruit here is simply wonderful, especially pineapple, soursop, tamarind, mangoes and bananas. The local fruit drinks are delicious - as are the rums which they often mix them with! Do try the traditional dish of green fig and salt fish. Callaloo soup, banana bread, mango ice cream and mango pickle are other local foods that shouldn't be missed. When it comes to restaurants, most people rave about Dasheene at Ladera, both for its cuisine and stunning location. The same can be said of the Coal Pot in Vigie Cove, with its local crab back speciality. We can also recommend Charthouse and Buzz in Rodney Bay for excellent steak and seafood, the Cliff at Cap Maison and the stylish TAO at The BodyHoliday. Why not sample freshly caught fish and lobster at Anse La Raye's Friday night fish fry, mmmm....
