• You will always have your own room in which to relax. (See page 9 for more details).

Our price promise

As a matter of policy, we never penalise our early bookers. Unlike most other travel companies, whenever we negotiate lower prices from our suppliers, we’ll pass on the savings to every customer in the group regardless of when they booked.

Also, by booking from this brochure, you’ll be guaranteed the lowest prices. If our prices rise after you’ve confi rmed your booking with us, your holiday cost is guaranteed at the lower price. If prices fall after you’ve booked, you’ll automatically be given the new, lower price.

So, by booking early you really can’t lose!

Make sure you visit our website regularly as prices may be reduced throughout the year.

Your Solos Tour Leader

What Makes a Good Tour Leader?

The Solos Tour leader is not just a ‘rep’ but more of a companion who travels with the group. They’ll be with you from the start of your event or holiday, right through to the end as you say goodbye to your new-found friends.

Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tour Leaders understand exactly what you want to get out of your trip; many actually started off as Solos customers themselves. Their passion makes a real difference to your holiday - they’ll work hard to make sure it runs smoothly and everyone is happy.

For example, it’s worth noting that on evenings where meals aren’t included, you don’t have to dine alone as your Tour Leader will be able to suggest places for the group to eat together if they wish.

Our carefully chosen leaders are there to ensure the unique blend of people and places produces unforgettable memories. We are extremely proud of our Tour Leaders - many have been with Solos for years and we believe they’re the best in the business.

Here's what our Tour Leader say:

Andy Wilson
“Every trip I welcome a group of strangers and at the end of the holiday I find myself saying cheerio to a new group of friends. Travelling with people you don’t know may well be a bit daunting initially but once you are over the “what have I let myself in for fear factor” you will honestly wonder what all the fuss was about and why you hadn’t booked it before and done it sooner. Over the years I have met so many people that wish they had plucked up the courage to have travelled sooner.”

Annie Apgar
“To potential travellers I would say that there is something for everyone in every Solos holiday.... Perhaps it is just company in the evening or organised excursions, or exploring corners of foreign countries. Wherever your interest lies, the programme is there to join as you like. Within the group you will always find a kindred spirit and quite likely make a friend for life.”

Frequently asked Questions

Who can travel with Solos?

A Solos holiday is available to anyone travelling alone. There are many reasons why people travel on their own - they may be single, unable to travel at the same time as their partner, or simply have different interests to their friends or partner. With Solos, you may be travelling alone but you will never be lonely.

What will my fellow travellers be like?

Variety is the spice of life and this can be said of the mix of people who book with Solos. Most choose us because they don’t want to travel, or attend a social event, on their own. It’s your chance to experience new destinations, try different activities and socialise with a group of new friends (and maybe catch up with some old ones too).

What is the proportion of women to men?

We always try to achieve an equal balance of women to men on all our holidays, breaks and events - however we can’t guarantee this. Women tend to book earlier than men so, to help us achieve a reasonable ratio and to avoid ladies having to be placed on a waiting list, we would encourage men to book as early as possible.

How many people will be in a group?

This depends on the type of experience. Our average group size is 15, but on some of our holidays it can be between 20 and 30. Our popular Black Tie Balls can attract in excess of 80 people.

What age range can I expect?

Age is just a number. However, we recognise that some of our customers prefer to travel with people of a similar age so, unlike other operators, we suggest age ranges for some of our departures. Look out for the following symbols displayed throughout the brochure. The age bands are only a guide - it’s not our intention to exclude anyone simply because of their age. We make no guarantee that all people on any particular holiday, break or event will fall precisely into these bands and we’ll exercise discretion to maintain a sensible mix.

Age Bands - as a guide ■ 25-45 ◆ 30-59 ✴ 45+ ▲ All ages

Will I get my own room and do I have to stay with the group all of the time?

You will always have use of either a single or double/twin room for sole use*. There are key times when the group will get together (at the welcome drink and on excursions for example), but it’s entirely up to you how much time you spend with the group.
*Except for 1 night on Safari & Sunsets and Trekking in the Himalayas when it is necessary to share due to the nature/style of the accommodation.

Can I share a room with someone?

We do indeed offer this option on some of our holidays, particularly on our Dances & Festive Breaks and Discovery Tours. You may wish to share with a friend, for example, and make savings on the cost of a holiday. To find out more about sharing a room, please call.

Is there any advantage to booking early?

Yes. On some of our holidays there are limited places so early booking is encouraged. You’ll also be guaranteed the lowest price (see our Price Promise) and may be able to take advantage of Early Booking Offers that are featured on some holidays. If you choose to book later, we may not be able to confirm your place straight away and, if we’ve already filled our flight and hotel allocations, there may be a supplement to pay for additional places. So yes, it definitely pays to book early.

Is my money safe?

The air holiday packages and flights in this brochure are ATOL (Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing) protected by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) - our ATOL number is 0559. ATOL protects you from losing your money or from being stranded abroad. It does this by carrying out checks on the tour operators and travel organisers it licenses, to ensure they are financially able to carry out their business. However, if a tour operator does go out of business, the CAA will ensure you do not lose the money you have paid. Or, if you’re abroad, they will arrange for you to finish your holiday and fly home. Please see our Solos Holidays Booking Agreement.

What happens at the airport?

When you receive your holiday itinerary, we’ll let you know when and how you meet your Solos Tour Leader. Sometimes your Tour Leader will meet you at the boarding gate and fly with you, while, at other times, you will meet the Tour Leader at the destination - either at the airport when you get off the plane or in the resort. Either way, we’ll advise you exactly what to do and what to expect.
