About this holiday
Day 1 UK to Vienna. Arrive into Vienna and transfer to Tradigst and our hotel. Enjoy a welcome drink and dinner this evening.
Overnight in Steinschalerhof for the next 4 nights. (D).
Day 2 Hochschneeberg Train. After breakfast we head to Puchberg where we board the famous “Salamander Train” and travel to the “Hochschneeberg”, with its 2075 meters, Lower Austria’s highest mountain travelling through high meadows and stunning scenery. From its top you can see the mountains Rax, Ötscher and Hochschwab and the lakes Neusiedl and Balaton in Hungary. This afternoon we head back to Puchberg on the train and then back to the Steinschalerhof. Dinner is a regional affair at the hotel.
Day 3 Mariazellerbahn Train. This morning we travel on the Mariazellerbahn train from the nearby station to Mariazell. The town is situated on a hill where we have impressive views of the Alps and the River Salza. Since 1330 – and to the present day – Mariazell and its basilica have been an official place of pilgrimage. Enjoy lunch in the hotel “Drei Hasen” before visiting the gingerbread manufacture Pirker and where of course a tasting is also essential. We also visit and have guided tour of the famous basilica of Mariazell and attend a guided tour.

Day 4 Wachaubahn Train. Today we explore the Danube Valley as we head to Emmersdorf and take the Wachaubahn to Krems with some spectacular scenery along the way. In Krems we visit the winery for a tour before heading back to the hotel. A ‘Most’ (Cider) is served after dinner.
Day 5 On to Vienna. This morning we say goodbye to the Steinschalerhof and transfer to the beautiful capital of Vienna where we enjoy a guided tour before an afternoon at leisure to explore on our own. Dinner this evening is at a traditional “Heuriger” (wine tavern).

Day 6 Vienna & Concert. We have a full day at leisure today to explore many of the Viennese attractions, museum and shops or we can learn how to make the famous Apple Strudel in an optional baking lesson where at first you will get some information about the history of this typically Viennese pastry and afterwards you can try your hand at creating your own Strudel. An early dinner will be taken in a restaurant in the city before attending the Strauss and Mozart concert.

Day 7 Travel back to the UK.
