What’s your idea of a relaxing holiday? Whether it’s winding down on a spa-day, reuniting with Mother Nature or sinking your toes into the sand, here are some of the most relaxing holiday destinations in the world. You’re worth it!

Thailand

What makes Thailand so peaceful? The powdery, palm-fringed beaches, the friendly smiles or the quiet tranquillity that radiates from every glittering temple? It’s all of that and more: from the lush green jungles of the North to the Buddhists’ peaceful approach to life.

In short, Thailand is the perfect place to visit for a cocktail of culture and relaxation, with plates of the world’s most mouth-watering food thrown in for good measure.

Spend some time soaking up the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, before making a break for the beach.

The Maldives

When you picture paradise, there’s a good chance you’re imagining the Maldives. The powdery white beaches here are what dreams are made of, and the water is some of the clearest – and warmest – in the Indian Ocean.

With nearly a hundred inhabited islands, you’re spoilt for choice on where to stay. Island-hop to find your favourite or settle down for a week of pure relaxation.

This is an area of the world that’s famous for its underwater life too. Break the surface to see the jewels of the ocean for yourself: colourful shoals of fish, turtles, manta rays, sharks and even the world’s largest fish – the whale shark.

Budapest, Hungary

Who said a city break can’t be relaxing? Blessed with an abundance of hot springs, Budapest packs in enough indulgence to rival any blissful white-sand beach.

This is a city that’s famous for its spas; boasting more thermal and medicinal water springs than any other capital in the world, Budapest has a huge array of bathhouses to choose from. And here’s the best bit – they’re open all year round!

Travel here to cure your ailments, detox your skin or simply wallow in the water. Either way, you’re guaranteed a relaxing spa day that’s above and beyond the rest!

Sri Lanka

Everyone knows nature and relaxation go hand in hand, and Sri Lanka is the perfect place for you and Mother Nature to reunite. Rugged tropical rainforests, emerald tea-plantations, deserted beaches and nature reserves rustling with exotic wildlife: it’s impossible to leave without feeling magically restored.

Whilst the island has its busy areas too, you’ll find that you’re never too far away from a near-empty stretch of white sand, a quiet temple or national park.

Olu Deniz, Turkey

An oasis of calm and tranquillity, the remote village of Olu Deniz in south-west Turkey is where all your troubles will melt away.

Sink your toes into the white-sand Belcekız beach and swim in the beautiful Blue Lagoon. Set against a backdrop of mountains, the unspoilt beach and electric blue waters offer the perfect escape, just when you need it.

Saint Lucia

The Caribbean takes relaxation very seriously, but the tiny island of Saint Lucia makes peace and tranquillity its number one priority.

A beautiful backdrop of mountains follows you wherever you go, and a carpet of tropical rainforest hides an array of colourful flora and fauna.

Looking for a spot of luxury? Located on the north-west tip of the island, the luxury BodyHoliday hotel is a destination purpose-built for relaxation. The all-inclusive resort designs a personalised schedule of daily spa treatments, fitness classes and an array of sports on land and water, which you can chop and change as you please. There’s truly no better way to restore your body and mind. Click here to find out more.
