Croatia is fast becoming one of Europe’s most fashionable places to visit, and yet it doesn't feel like a place that has been 'over-cooked' by the tourist industry.

Though development continues along the more commercialised stretches of coast, Croatian tourism has also developed in other areas and Croatia has made great strides in the variety and quality of its holidays on offer.

Croatia boasts almost 2000 km of rocky, indented shore, isolated beaches and over a thousand islands, many covered in luxuriant vegetation. Even during the busier months of July and August there are still enough off-the-beaten-track islands, quiet coves and welcoming fishing villages to make you feel as if you’re visiting Europe at its most natural and unspoiled.

But there's also plenty of sophistication and quality too. With first class hotels, yacht-filled harbours, restaurants and cocktail bars in abundant supply. Local and natural ingredients are the bywords of Croatian cuisine and the country produces a mouth-watering range mixture of Mediterranean (Italian) and Eastern European food with plenty of fish and seafood, stews, soups, goulashes, and meat dishes.

Croatia has experienced the collapse of communism, a war of national survival and the securing of its national independence and twenty years later, visitors will be struck by the tangible sense of pride that independence has brought and by the warmth and hospitality of it's people.
