In our latest of a series of blog posts, Solos' Tour Leader, Chris Brown, reveals his three favourite hotels that feature in Solos' holidays.

Kos

"Kos is a small, very friendly island in the Aegean Sea….Solos guests stay at the Aegean Village hotel located in Kardamina which is the second largest tourist resort. Unlike other hotels, which are usually tall concrete buildings with views of a corridor and other rooms, this hotel is built on a hillside and the rooms are in blocks and spread out over six levels; all with great views of the sea and other Greek islands. The view from the room balcony or veranda is of beautiful gardens, birds and the Aegean Sea. There's an Olympic size swimming pool with plenty of sun beds and shades, and there are a few shops including a mini market and indoor swimming pool. The food is all cooked on site and in the morning the smell of fresh bread and croissants greets you for breakfast. There's always a fresh joint of meat as part of the evening meal and some days smoked salmon and smoke trout is on the menu. There's entertainment every night outside at the pool bar and a great Greek night with dancing usually on a Friday. This hotel, in my view, should be rated as a five-star!"

Cuba

"Solos' guests stay at Memories Jibacoa during our Cuba holiday, which is just over an hour from Havana. We have used this hotel for many years and get treated very well by all the staff and management. This all-inclusive hotel offers good quality drinks which are served in glasses in the Piano bar where we seem to spend a lot of time. This beach-fronted hotel has many sun beds and shades and there's a reef just 50 metres off-shore. There's a peaceful atmosphere about the place and because of its location, it's very quick and easy to enjoy excursions into Havana during the day and evening."

Folgaria

"This is a ski holiday in Italy and I have worked at the Club Hotel Alpino for many years. The food and staff are very good and, because we have been going there a long time, they know exactly what we want and do all they can to help make a great week. The ski equipment hire shop is opposite the hotel and they will take all the equipment hired to the slopes and keep them in the locked and secure depository so all we have to do is get the bus to the lifts. The bus service to the slopes is just around the corner and is free with a pass from the hotel. The ski area is for all abilities, with a very good ski school for beginners as well as intermediates who want to improve their style. Folgaria is just over an hour from Verona airport there are no long coach journeys."
