We recently asked singletons in the Solos’ community to share what they like most about being single and the response was fabulous! Here’s a round-up of some of our favourite answers via our Facebook page:

“I love that I am answerable to no-one! I make all the decisions on what I do, eat, wear, where I go and who I see/am friends with. I can stay in my PJs as long as I want, listen to whatever music I like (as long and as loud as I like - neighbours permitting!), watch what I like on TV, do housework when it suits me, and I can buy what I like (when I can afford it!). The list of the advantages of being single are longer than people think.” - Hazel

“I can spend what I like, when I like. I can go where I want, when I want to go. The house is a beer and football-free zone. Sometimes I feel like it would be nice to share life with someone again but life doesn't stop just because I'm single. One of the best holidays I've had was my Solos’ trip to Zakynthos.” - Lesley

“After bringing up a family and looking after an ill partner, I now have time to myself to do what I want, when I want. Now retired, I do charity work in between travelling home or away. I love meeting new people and have been on Solos’ holidays in the past - the last one was a couple of years ago to Torquay and I met such a great bunch of people and never stopped laughing. I have ordered my new brochure!” - Ann

“I love the freedom of being able to do what I want, when I want. I raised my son alone and we have travelled to many countries on a shoe-string. I wanted to show him that there is a whole world out there to explore. He is 23 now so I will continue to explore the world.” – Annabel

“It is sad when you lose someone you love, but time has taught me that I can do just what I want, when I want, with no one to consider but myself for the first time ever.” – Cynthia

“I can get up when I like, do what I like, not having to ask if it's all right if I want to do something or go somewhere. I can sleep at any time of day or night, read in bed and take up ALL the bed! I can go shopping and not feel guilty if I want to buy something for myself. I can go dancing until 3am if I want to. I can book a trip to Australia and travel anywhere I fancy. Yes, it's hard being single.” – Beverley

“I prefer the tranquillity and harmony of being alone, than the loneliness and heartache of being with someone who doesn't respect or value you and finds it acceptable to create upset and turmoil because of their own shortcomings.” – Angelina

“I love my solo status because I feel that by being single has made me a bolder, braver person. Being single shouldn't stop you living the life you want. I now travel to places I want to visit and I love photography, which I have also embraced more now that I am single. I also love that feeling of anything can happen. Being single is an adventure and it's up to you as an individual whether that's a good or bad experience. If you embrace being single, I guarantee you'll enjoy life more and remember you won't always be single, unless you choose to remain so. Either way, it's really not so bad.” – Charlotte

Solos Holidays opened up a whole new world for me as a newly-divorced woman 11 years ago. Travelling alone gave me new found-confidence in myself and I discovered that I could make friends easily and that people actually liked me for me. That new-found strength has never left me and I now live abroad...still single...in the resort where I first rediscovered myself. I am my own boss. I choose my life. I am extremely lucky. And I thank Solos for that.” – Irene
