Barbados has all the perfect Caribbean ingredients - turquoise waters, palm fringed beaches and friendly people. Explore the history of the island from its traditional sugar plantations to the impressive stalagmites found at Harrison's Cave, or if you prefer, embark on a fun catamaran trip round the island for a day of snorkelling and swimming! The island welcomes a relaxed Caribbean attitude and this together with its stunning natural scenery, makes it a unique and characterful island that’s perfect for a memorable solos holiday.
Barbados is historically one of the first islands tourists started exploring for its picture-perfect beaches and laidback approach to life. Despite other Caribbean islands such as Antigua and St. Lucia fast becoming popular holidaying destinations, Barbados still remains a firm favourite amongst solo travellers pining after a tropical escape!
Barbados is at its most quirky in its capital city, Bridgetown, where the Caribbean influence collides head on with the heritage left over from British rule. Here, you can watch a game of cricket on the green at the famous Kensington Oval or stand in the shadow of the admiral Nelson statue, before heading to the harbour to watch live reggae or dance to calypso.
I was so nervous about embarking on my first Solos Holiday, but I shouldn’t have been – it was the best thing I have ever done!
Wow! Got to see the famous shipwreck beach in Zakynthos with Solos. Can’t wait to discover more of their destinations!
