About this holiday

Gulf Cruising

After arriving in Dubai we overnight before sailing the following afternoon allowing plenty of time to explore. For a real bird’s-eye view over the coast, the city and the desert, start your sightseeing with a visit to the observation deck of the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa

The next port of call is Doha, Qatar a once-forgotten country that is now a much visited destination. Doha’s a pint-sized city, by Gulfstandards, so you can squeeze a lot of its main attractions into a day and a lazy stroll around will lead you past just-unwrapped luxury hotels, arty complexes and expertly-designed skyscrapers.

After a relaxing day at sea we arrive in the capital of Oman, Muscat. The ancient walled city of Muscat is wedged into a mountain-cocooned bay, just 20 minutes’ drive from Port Sultan Qaboos. Although only 250 miles from Dubai, it couldn’t be more different. The Grand Mosque is a great example of modern Islamic architecture whilst inside, there’s a Swarovski chandelier and a 21-tonne Persian carpet covering the huge prayer hall.

Our next visit is to Khor Fakkan. Sitting at the foot of a mountain range and, although geographically surrounded by the emirate of Fujairah, actually belongs to the emirate of Sharjah, one of the ‘dry’ states. The town has sandy beaches, coral reefs and manicured gardens.

Since oil was first discovered here Abu Dhabi has been transformed from a fishing village into a modern metropolis. Anchoring in Port Zayed, the UAE’s laid-back capital is just a half an hour’s drive. The mammoth Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the world’s largest and able to take 40,000 worshippers. Inside, it’s all marbleclad walls and impressive carvings. Take a wander along the Corniche, a long avenue filled with cafés, restaurants and playgrounds.

The Meridian Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and six-course dinner. Open seating for breakfast and lunch is the order of the day but the cruising tradition of fixed sittings applies for dinner. There is also Mistral’s an à la carte restaurant offering the ultimate dining experience. A cover charge applies and onboard reservations are required. Enjoy the weekly Captain’s Cocktail Party and Gala Dinner. There’s also the 24-hour Lido Café, a self-service buffet that serves a wide selection of dishes. Why not try the Terrace Grill for lunchtime pasta dishes, pizzas, and speciality salads served in the sunshine.

Choose from the Broadway Show Lounge, all the razzmatazz of Broadway plus side-splitting comedy from UK guest acts or Liberties which features live bands, popular game shows, karaoke, spotlight cabarets, plus the late night disco. Join in the deck parties with live music and stunning cabarets or try your luck at Hemmingway’s Casino. In addition to all of this there are 5 bars, the Sports Deck, Oceans (spa, gym, and beauty salon), card and reading room, gift shops, library with internet access, so there will never be a dull moment onboard Celebration.
