About this holiday
Your first day promises pretty tree-lined canals, graceful gabled houses and world-famous museums in the popular Dutch capital of Amsterdam.
Then, spend a day in historic Antwerp with its eye-catching architecture, sculpted streets and picturesque galleries. Be sure to bring home
some delicious Belgian chocolates!
After an evening of sumptuous dining and a glittering show on board you’ll awake in Amsterdam. Explore this fascinating city, bursting with character, where peaceful canals are criss-crossed by hundreds of bridges and world famous museums vie for your attention. Take a sightseeing canal trip, browse the flower market or be tempted by the many enticing shops. Alternatively, why not take an optional tour into the Dutch countryside to experience the land of windmills, clogs and cheese? In the elegant city of Antwerp, explore the Grote Markt with its 16th century guild houses and Flemish Renaissance town hall.
Admire Antwerp’s towering Gothic cathedral, whose graceful spire dominates the skyline. You may prefer an optional tour to the medieval city of Bruges where you may choose to take a boat ride on the famous canals, or wander through the charming narrow alleyways and streets. A final night on board as you sail back to Tilbury, and all too quickly your weekend break is over.
CMV are delighted to announce the introduction of the impressive Columbus to their fleet in 2017. This splendid medium-sized cruise ship will offer the same traditional cruising style that CMV is known for.
Combining spacious surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Columbus is the perfect choice for those looking for comfort and a wide range of on board facilities. However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style ships built today.
At 63,786grt, with a draft of 8.20 metres and overall length of nearly 250 metres, Columbus was purpose built
for deep sea ocean cruising and CMV believe is ideally suited to the type of exciting scenic cruise programme they
operate. She underwent an extensive refit in August 2015 and will be upgraded further in April 2017 before the start
of her maiden CMV season.
Columbus has 775 passenger cabins including 64 deluxe balcony cabins and junior suites. Following the successful
trial on board Magellan, and recognising the needs of single travellers, 150 cabins will be allocated for solos.
A cruising holiday is simply like no other, combining the fascination of lazy days at sea, great food and entertainment,
making new friendships, ever-changing vistas and visiting new places. It gives a unique sense of exploration and
discovery experienced in the civilised comforts of today. Where else can you find a holiday where you will visit lots of
different places and your hotel moves with you. No packing, no hassle, no worries.
Enjoy the on board facilities like the pool, whirlpools, spa and fitness centre, and activities, deck games and lectures.
However, you may prefer to just relax, read, or do absolutely nothing at all. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all included
together with afternoon teas and late night snacks. And at night, enjoy a production show, relax to music in one of the
lounges or dance the night away.
