Day 2 - Havana City Tour
In the morning we will be picked up in vintage classic cars for a panoramic tour through modern Havana. We will see the Paseo del Prado street which divides Central Havana and Old Havana, Revolution Square, where many political rallies and where Fidel Castro addresses its citizens, then on to Havana Forest and the Malecon Habanero. We leave behind the vintage cars, and begin a walking tour through Colonial Havana, founded in 1515 and declared a UNESCO world Heritage site in 1982. We visit the four squares of Havana; Arms Square, San Francisco Square, Cathedral Square and El Templete. After lunch, we will walk through the main streets of the historical centre of the city, and see the fortress and buildings built by the Spaniards between the 16th and 19th Centuries.
Overnight in Havana (B, L)
Day 3 - Vinales Valley
In the morning we travel to Valley of Vinales, a declared Cultural Landscape Protected by UNESCO and this is where the best tobacco in the world is cultivated. A visit to a cigar factory will help us to appreciate the manufacturing process of Cuban cigars. In Vinales, we will visit the Mural of the Prehistory, an imposing 120-metre-high natural mural with paintings by native Taino Indians of dinosaurs dating back to the Jurassic Period. It is one of the oldest and one of the most well- preserved sites of Jurassic remains. After lunch, we will visit The Cave of the Indian, with a trip along the river that runs inside. It was here that the Guanajatabey Indians built their primitive homes in caves hollowed out of the limestone mogotes, where relics of this nomadic people have been found along with fossils of Pleistocene mammals embedded in the rock. Deep inside the caves, albino fish swim and butterfly bats flit. Some caverns, such as the Cueva del Indio, rediscovered in 1920, have close to four kilometres of underground streams.
