Marsham Court Hotel
Hotel overlooking the sea
Day along the Jurassic coast by sea and train
Close to the beach
With its 7 mile long sandy beach and numerous attractions, Bournemouth is one of the most popular resorts on the south coast. We stay at The Marsham Court Hotel in a great position overlooking Bournemouth beach, pier and shops. Recharge the batteries and take a Solos break beside the sea.
Check-in at our hotel. When evening comes, we can enjoy a welcome drink with other Solos guests before dinner in the hotel restaurant.
After breakfast we head to Poole Harbour to embark on our boat trip to Swanage. We will cruise around the eastern tip of the spectacular Jurassic Coast with live commentary before disembarking in picturesque Swanage. We then take a step back in time and take our seats on the steam train that takes us from Swanage to Corfe. Once in Corfe you will have plenty of time to visit Corfe Castle or enjoy the sights from one of the old pubs and cafes in the village. Our return steam train journey will take us back to Swanage for some time to explore before our cruise back to Poole Harbour. We then transfer back to our hotel where we’ll meet up in the evening for dinner.
This morning we will cross the road from our hotel to visit the Russell Cotes museum. The Russell Cotes house was one of the last Victorian houses to be built in England and is a fine example of buildings of this period. Our visit includes a guided tour around the rooms of the main house and you will also be able to visit the art gallery and gardens which still house the original Victorian stone grotto and fountain along with the Japanese garden with gold-fish ponds, bridges and fountain. After our morning spent at Russell Cotes, the afternoon is at leisure. Maybe take a walk along the beach or discover the traditional Bournemouth pier, seaside shops and cafes or perhaps just enjoy the facilities of our hotel. In the evening we will meet up for dinner.
After a leisurely breakfast, check out and say goodbye!

There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides and hotel staff (including restaurant, kitchen and reception staff) of approximately £10. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% of the metered fare.
