Extras
This family-run hotel nestled among the palm trees and overlooking peaceful Falmouth Harbour, near historic Nelson’s Dockyard, is a little gem of a property and has become a firm favourite with Solos guests.
The Catamaran Hotel was opened by the renowned Antiguan Yachtsman Sir Hugh Bailey and has been passed down to his daughter Feona and her son Colin, who offer a warm and friendly welcome.
If an intimate and traditional beachfront hotel is your idea of paradise, then this is the perfect choice for anyone looking to escape the hectic pace of life. For 10 nights, The Catamaran is exclusive to ClubSolos guests and embodies the same personal feel that can be found at all our ClubSolos properties. Feona, Colin and the rest of the team provide a wonderful and memorable experience and are always on hand for your holiday requests.
The Catamaran’s swimming pool affords stunning sea views. Grab a sun lounger, order a drink from the hotel bar, and relax and unwind for as long as you like. It’s just a few steps from the pool to a small beach. None of the beaches in Antigua are private however, it is rare for anyone other than hotel guests to use this beach. Feeling active? There are no organised beach activities but you can go sailing straight from the beach and diving and hiring of sunfish dinghies and rowing boats can be arranged via the hotel reception. In the evenings we will dine together at the hotel’s Captain’s Quarter’s Restaurant & Bar, which offers waterfront alfresco dining. With an unrivalled view of Catamaran Marina and Falmouth Bay, the setting will take your breath away – whether at breakfast or during our 10 included dinners.
The 16 tropical-inspired rooms fall into five categories with sizes, facilities and views reflected in our individual room prices. Standard Rooms are the smallest and offer all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. As these rooms do not have a terrace or balcony, a small table and chairs will be set out in the courtyard so that you don’t miss out on those blissful ocean views.
The ground-floor Beachfront Rooms have a shared terrace and are a few steps from the hotel’s small beach. Superior View Suites are found on the first floor and offer breathtaking panoramic views of the beach and Falmouth Bay beyond, from the private balcony. Three wood-panelled Captain’s Cabins are set apart from the main building and overlook the swimming pool and offer private access to the beach. The first-floor Admiral’s Suite is the most spacious and boasts fabulous views of Falmouth Bay and the beach from the balcony.
This stunning island has much to offer. The lively Pigeon Point Beach is a short drive away from the hotel, as is Shirley Heights, an 18th-century fort that commands fabulous views. You can experience the Antiguan favourite, a Sunday-night sunset party here, or enjoy a communal barbecue where locals, the yachting set, and visitors alike let down their hair.
No visit to a Caribbean island would be complete without a catamaran cruise and on our circumnavigation tour you’ll enjoy a full day’s adventure cruise around Antigua’s dazzling coast with a chance to snorkel and swim in turquoise waters.
Our boutique beachfront hotel is beautifully located on the shores of Falmouth Harbour. Its location means it is easy to get to popular points of interest such as Nelson’s Dockyard and Shirley Heights. There is a small supermarket a short walk from the hotel.
*Please note: The Catamaran Hotel does not have a lift, and is therefore not ideal for people with walking difficulties.
Swimming pool with loungers and umbrellas, waterfront restaurant for breakfast and dinner, small bar and free Wi-Fi. Although all our rooms differ in size and décor, all rooms offer the same facilities.
Comfortable rooms feature air-conditioning, some with kitchenette, fridge, tea & coffee making facilities, satellite TV, safe, hairdryer, telephone and Wi-Fi.
Transfer time from Antigua Airport to The Catamaran Hotel is approximately 25-30 minutes.
You may wish to take an optional excursion during the course of your stay. Full details will be given at the Information Meeting. All tours should be paid for in USD or ECD. Credit cards are accepted. The exact amount will be given at your Information Meeting. Your Tour Leader will help arrange these for you but may not necessarily accompany you.
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of $35.00 per week, (or the equivalent amount in local currency). Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
Casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes will be ideal for the evening, with the emphasis throughout being informal but with no vests in the restaurants in the evenings. Early and late season evenings can be cool so do ensure that you take a cardigan or jacket and even some rainwear – particularly in May and June when you may experience some spring thunderstorms followed by scorching days!
