DAY 2

Cotswolds Way & Villages

Our first walk of the weekend starts from the picturesque village of Stanton where we join the Cotswold Way. Our route takes us across beautiful Cotswold fields with lovely views, through the ancient Littleworth Wood and then onto the delightful village of Snowshill with its traditional cottages. Snowshill is well known for the home to the eccentric collector Charles Wade who lived in Snowshill Manor which he filled with ‘stuff’; anything from rusty bicycles to Japanese Samurai suits of armour! We will be stopping at Snowshill for lunch at a local pub (at own cost) so there will be time for anyone who wishes to visit the manor. It is owned by the National Trust, so members should remember to bring their card.

DAY 3

Wardens Way & Saxons

After breakfast we take our bus to the medieval town of Winchcombe, important since Saxon times when it was the capital of the kingdom of Mercia. From the Centre of Winchcombe we walk down to Castle street round the back of Sudeley Castle where we get some excellent views of the present day building and the ruin. We then follow the Warden’s way up to Parks Farm, where we leave the trail and cut across the fields and join the Windrush Way heading back towards Winchcombe for lunch ( at own cost).
