Delightful Dubrovnik

Everyone's talking about Dubrovnik. Enveloped by the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic, the magnificent UNESCO protected petite walled city is a treasure trove of architectural and cultural masterpieces. With a skyline of higgedly-piggedly red-roofs, turrets and spires poking high into the sky, you can discover its hidden alleyways during our included guided walking tour. Awash with quirky restaurants and quaint shops, there’s plenty to see in the Old Town; amble within the compact centre or brave the steps to enjoy the views from high up on the 13th century city walls.

Refresh and relax at our nearest beach in the summer, just a short walk from our hotel. If you’ve exhausted the numerous museums within Dubrovnik, join an optional cultural excursion to discover more of the Adriatic or a leisurely Elaphite Islands Cruise with a fish picnic.

Explore further afield

You may choose to spend one of your days at leisure or exploring the area further on an optional excursion. We can venture to Bosnia & Herzegovina to visit the fairytale town of Mostar and the Blagaj Tekija Monastery. Alternatively head to the Croatian island of Korkula and Ston village. Korcula was discovered by the Ancient Greeks and is believed to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. We can spend time in the village of Ston with an oyster and wine tasting before soaking up the atmosphere with some free time.

Hotel Astarea

Set on the water’s edge, with a beautiful mountainous backdrop, you will find the delightful Hotel Astarea. The Hotel Astarea in Mlini is on the delightful Dubrovnik Riviera. This charming hotel keeps Croatian culture alive with traditional décor, welcoming atmosphere and direct access to a pretty pebble beach. The pool area is a feature at Hotel Astarea with commanding sea views. The village of Mlini is only a short stroll away, so you can experience local village life and the hotel is only a short drive away from the centre of Dubrovnik. The perfect place to relax and unwind in your free time.

Useful Information

Transfer Time
The transfer time from Dubrovnik Airport to Hotel Astarea is approximately 20 minutes depending on traffic.

Walking
There is a significant amount of steps around Dubrovnik so we would not recommend this short break for people with walking difficulties.

Included Programme
During your holiday we have included ½ day guided tour of Dubrovnik.

More to Explore
Listed below are just a few of the optional tours that may be available to you depending on the time of year and numbers interested. Prices should be used as a guideline only, as these could vary, depending on numbers, as these trips may run as private trips or you may be joined by other holidaymakers. All tours can be paid for in local currency (kunas) or Euros but in cash only. The exact amount will be given at your Information Meeting. Your Tour Leader will help arrange these for you but may not necessarily accompany you.

  • Mostar
Mostar is a mix of cultures and religions. Upon arrival the guide will talk about the history and the famous bridge. The old bridge is famous for its “jumpers” that amaze the crowds every now and then. Visit the mosque and the Turkish house. Blagaj is an oasis of peace. Surrounded by the beautiful nature you will find the Blagaj Tekija next to the river Buna. Blagaj represents a remarkable monument of the Turkish era in Bosnia & Herzegovina. Approx price for minimum 10 persons: €54,00 per person
  • Korcula & Ston
Korcula is an island whose beauty was discovered by the Ancient Greeks, although the first signs of inhabitants appear in the old stone age. However today, Corcyra Nigra is often related to Marco Polo whose house you can find in the city of Korcula. It is believed that the famous adventurer was born there although he spent his life traveling in Italy. Discover the narrow streets of the city and climb to the Big Revelin fortress to enjoy the views. Ston is a small village that is positioned in a bay rich with oysters at the beginning of Peljesac peninsula, recognized in the world by its wineries and spectacular wines. Ston was well preserved from the invaders by the walls, which overlook the whole city and bay. Pamper yourself and enjoy the peace and quiet of this hidden area. Approx price: €77,00 per person

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.

Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €15.00. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Temperature (Average Daily Maximum ºC)
May 21ºC

Dress Code
Casual daytime wear is recommended. Comfortable shoes are a “must” for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes will be ideal for the evenings - the emphasis throughout being informality.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday.
