With a fabulous selection of top quality golf courses, and a great all-year round climate, the Eastern Algarve is rightly considered the best up and coming golf destinations in Europe for British golfers! We’ve selected a highly rated hotel, which is sure to prove popular with our guests, and is just a short drive from all of the golf courses.

Eastern Algarve Golf

We will be playing 5 highly-regarded Algarve courses on our week, and are based at the Maria Nova Lounge Hotel, which enjoys a prime position and is just a 5 minute walk from Tavira’s pretty town centre. The town offers an excellent range of authentic restaurants and is situated along the banks of the slow-flowing Gilao River which flows into the Ria Formosa National Park, a haven for birds and sea life.

Golf Schedule 5 rounds.

1 x Quinta do Vale,
1 x Quinta da Ria,
1 x Quinta de Cima,
1 x Castro Marim,
1 x Benamor
Handicap certificates are required.

Benamor Golf Course

18 holes, 5197 metres, Par 71

You can enjoy some of the most spectacular views on the Algarve from this superb course, which is by no means the longest on the Algarve, but its natural undulations make it a good challenge for low and high handicappers alike.

Castro Marim Golf Course

27 holes, 5464 metres, Par 72

Ever popular with our groups, Castro Marim is a relatively short course with a unique layout and spectacular setting amongst the hills that overlook the Algarve coast.

Quinta da Ria Golf Course

18 holes, 5872 metres, Par 72

This spectacular course is situated with the boundaries of the Formosa National Park running right down one side of the course. Shorter than its sister, Quinta da Cima, it provides an excellent test for all standards of golfer.

Quinta de Cima

18 holes, 6045 metres, Par 72

One of the Algarve’s premier golf courses, and visually stunning, the course winds its way across rolling parkland, its central feature being a river which comes into play on many of the holes.

Quinta do Vale Golf Course

18 holes, 6241 metres, Par 72

Designed by Seve Ballesteros Quinta do Vale offers an interesting and testing round of golf to players of all abilities. It features 6 par 3’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 5’s and combines several tough dogleg holes with strategically placed hazards that will challenge even the best of players.

Maria Nova Lounge Hotel ★★★★

This adults-only hotel enjoys a quiet location, however it is located just a five minute stroll from the centre of Tavira. This 4-star hotel is a new hotel for Solos, and we’re sure it will prove popular with our guests.

Useful Information

Transfer Time
The transfer time from Faro Airport to the hotel is approximately 45 minutes, depending on weather and traffic.

Golfing Schedule:
1 x Quinta da Ria, 1 x Quinta de Cima, 1 x Benamor, 1 x Castro Marim, 1 x Quinta do Vale

Golf Handicaps
This trip is for golfers with a handicap of 36 or lower for ladies and 28 or lower for gentlemen.

Please advise our Reservations team of your handicap at the time of booking, alternatively you can add this to the special requirements box on our booking page. If you have a certificate please ensure you take it with you on the trip, this enables the Tour Leader to assess everyone’s ability, so that rounds and competitions can be organised fairly.

If you are uncertain about these requirements please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to advise you.

Golf Club Insurance
Clients will most probably find that their golf clubs are covered on their household insurance policy. Most policies cover a single item such as golf clubs for a period out of the country. However, clients should make very sure that they do have cover. If not, Solo’s Holidays insurance includes cover for golf clubs and bag.

Buggy, Trolley & Club Hire
Most golf clubs have these items available for hire, however this is not always the case, so clients would be advised to check with us beforehand if they have any specific requirements.

Golf Footwear
Golf shoes with soft spikes are required.

Carriage of Clubs
We advise you to use a light golf bag when packing your clubs. We suggest you wrap a towel round the neck of the clubs to protect them and stop them rattling around whilst in transit. It is also important to then place the bag and clubs in an outer carrying bag, which can be purchased from any good golf shop.

What to Wear
Golf attire during the day. We suggest smart casual for the evenings.

Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of €15.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Passports & Visas
A full 10-year passport is required valid for at least the duration of your stay. Holders of passports with the inscription “British Citizen” or “European Union” do not require a visa.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Portugal Foreign Advice
