Useful Information

Visas

Until 30 June 2021 ‘British Citizen’ passport holders travelling for tourism or business can enter Vietnam for up to a maximum of 15 days (inclusive of dates of entry and exit) without a visa. If you have a different type of British nationality – for example ‘British national (overseas)’ you’ll need to get a visa before entering Vietnam. For visits of up to 30 days, you can get an e-visa online before you travel. Use of the e-visa is limited to certain entry/exit points which you must select at the time of application. E-visa is only applicable to ‘British Citizen’ passport holders. If you don’t have fixed travel plans, consider applying for a regular single entry visa from the nearest Vietnamese Embassy, which allows more flexibility. A number of British nationals have been refused entry and exit due to their passport being damaged. Make sure your passport is in good conditionbefore arriving in Vietnam. Being refused entry can result in significant cost and a long stay at the airport.

When you enter Laos, make sure you get an entry stamp in your passport. Not having a legitimate entry stamp could lead to arrest or a large fine. Visa conditions change regularly. For the most up to date information, contact the nearest Lao Embassy or Consulate. You can get a visa on arrival for around US$35 or Thai Baht 1,500.00. You will need one passport photo. Alternatively, you can get a visa by contacting the Lao Embassy in London.

Cambodian tourist visas are available on arrival at the Phnom Penh or Siem Reap international airports, for $30. If you wish to get a visa on arrival you should arrive with a passport photograph. You can also get an eVisa online before you travel. Visa fees, conditions and photograph requirements are subject to change. Check the Royal Cambodian Embassy, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Co-operation website for the latest information on fees, conditions and photograph requirements and on how to apply for an e-visa.

Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your sole responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant embassies and/or consulates of the countries in which you are planning to travel.

Land borders

There are a number of local crossing points on the borders with Cambodia and Laos which are for nationals of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam only and so don’t allow British nationals to cross. Check locally before travelling to these points.

Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months on the date you enter the country.

Transfer time

The transfer time between Ho Chi Minh Airport and the Saigon Hotel 2* is approximately 30 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Gratuities

We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of £60.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Included programme

A sightseeing programme is included in your touring package. This is 15 night holiday including your 13 nights hotel stay.

Dress code

The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart with gentlemen requested to wear a shirt and tie. Comfortable shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended.

Please note

A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required as we include plenty of sightseeing/travelling, sometimes with early starts.
