Large and well-landscaped, it’s a photographer’s dream! Later we will proceed to the Bund, a waterfront central area of Shanghai, and have lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards we will visit People Square, a large public square in the Huangpu District of Shanghai, and enjoy a walk along Nanjing Road -  the city’s main shopping street and one of the busiest in the whole world! Called Chang'an (meaning the eternal city) in ancient times, it’s home to the Yellow River Basin area: one of the birthplaces of the ancient Chinese civilization. We will enjoy our lunch box on the train and, after arriving in Xian, we will visit the Little Wild Goose Pagoda before transferring to our hotel. The Little Wild Goose Pagoda is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and impressive pagoda standing in pleasant surroundings in the grounds of the ancient Jianfu Temple, and has a history dating back over 1,300 years. Transfer Time
The transfer time from Shanghai Airport to your hotel in Shanghai is approximately 50 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Health
At least 8 weeks before your trip, check the latest country-specific health advice from the National Travel Health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) on the TravelHealthPro website. Each country-specific page has information on vaccine recommendations, any current health risks or outbreaks, and factsheets with information on staying healthy abroad. Guidance is also available from NHS (Scotland) on the FitForTravel website.

Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of £100.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Included Programme
A sightseeing programme is included in your touring package.

Dress Code
The emphasis is on casual clothing for throughout. Comfortable shoes or walking boots are recommended. Dressing in layers and waterproofs to allow for changes in the weather is recommended. Please bring some warm clothing for example a fleece and warm outer jacket for the evenings and early mornings. Conservative dress is preferred for both men and women. No shorts in restaurants. Revealing clothing is considered in poor taste by both Chinese men and women.

Please note
A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required as we include plenty of sightseeing/travelling, some with early starts.
