Situated in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea lies the island of Malta. Rich in history, which has left its mark through the centuries and evident through stunning architecture. Our week in Malta will take in all the highlights this island has to offer, such as the Valetta, Mdina and Rabat. We even hop over to Gozo for a 4 x 4 adventure! We stay in the year-round seafront resort of Sliema which provides a great base for our weeks touring.

Welcome to Malta! We will take our transfer to our hotel in Sliema where we can spend the rest of our first day exploring our surroundings or simply relax at the hotel whilst making the most of the available amenities. In the evening we will meet for dinner in the hotel restaurant.
After breakfast we set out on our first excursion beginning with a drive to the famous ‘Cottonera’ region of Malta, known as the ‘3 cities’. All localities are technically within walking distance from each other. We stop at ‘Vittoriosa’, one of the oldest localities on the Maltese islands. After a short walk along the promenade we will enjoy a guided walk through this historical city, past its main square and to the church of ‘St. Lawrence’. From the main square we will also enjoy a guided visit to the famous palace of the ‘Inquisitor’. This ancient building from the period of the Knights was the dreaded holding place for those plotting against the state. Most who entered never came out again!
From the 3 cities, we continue further south to the beautiful fishing village of ‘Marsaxlokk, famous for the many multi-coloured Maltese ‘Dhajsa’ fishing boats in the harbour. Stroll around the port of Marsaxlokk and enjoy the free time.
Our last stop before heading back to the hotel will be the Blue Grotto, a complex of seven caves showing the true blue beauty of the area.
Today is at our leisure where we can make the most of the facilities at our hotel including the indoor pool and spa or perhaps sitting on the terrace with a cup of coffee watching the world go by! If you fancy getting out and about then the resort of Sliema with its shops, bars and restaurants is on our doorstep.
Our tour starts with a visit to Malta’s capital city the picturesque Valletta. The capital of Malta offers both culture and relaxation.
Our day continues with a short walk that will take us to the “Upper Barakka” gardens with wonderful panoramic views over the grand harbour and across the 3 cities of Senglea, Vittoriosa and Kalkara. From the Barakka Gardens, the tour proceeds to St. John Cathedral where we will enter this magnificent venue and be thrilled with its beauty and history.
Our next visit will be St. George’s square where we will enjoy an outside visit of the Grand’s Master Palace. Our final stop on our Valletta tour is the Malta Experience show which is an audio visual show that tells the dramatic story of the islands 7000 year history. It is situated in a purpose-built panoramic auditorium. The show chronicles Malta’s unique history in just 45 minutes. A must-see audio-visual treat, The Malta Experience will enrich your understanding of the islands, its people and the places you’ll see on your visit.
Today is at leisure to enjoy the facilities of the hotel and seafront resort.
Our tour today starts with a visit to Mosta Basilica, a miraculous survivor of a direct bomb hit during World War II. The Sanctuary Basilica of the Assumption of Our Lady, commonly known as the Rotunda of Mosta or the Mosta Dome, is a Roman Catholic parish church and Minor Basilica in Mosta, Malta, dedicated to the Assumption of Mary.
Next we will visit Rabat where we will have the opportunity for some shopping for local goods and explore the creepy catacombs beneath St Paul’s Cathedral.!
Afterwards, we can enjoy a walk in the ramparts by the sea in the old walled city of Mdina.
Our last stop of the day will be Crafts Village in Ta Qali where we can shop for local wares like lace, gold, silver and glassware!
Today is an earlier start as we are travelling over to Gozo. There’s no better way to discover the sights of Gozo than on this off-road adventure!
Seated in the backseat of a 4×4, we’ll explore all four corners of the island, taking in attractions such as the Qala Belvedere, Xlendi Bay, the Inland Sea and the Victoria Citadel among others.
You’ll get the chance to see some of the island’s famous landmarks. The Neolithic Ggantija Temples and the medieval magic of the capital, Victoria. We’ll also visit the salt pans and limestone quarries as well as a craft centre.
Gozo is known for its many natural beauty spots, too, and by 4×4 they’re easy to get to. Spot the steep cliffs in Sannat, Ramla Bay’s red sand beach, the famous Inland Sea lagoon and the mysterious Calypso Cave, which legend says was the setting for part of Homer’s epic Odyssey. This excursion packs a lot into one day!

Medium weights for Winter. Casual “layers” for the autumn and spring months and a warm jacket is recommended for the cool mornings and evenings. Comfortable shoes are a “must” for sightseeing. The hotel prefers reasonably smart dress for dinner – gentlemen are asked to wear long trousers and a formal shirt.
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €20.00. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
