What’s Extra
Upon landing at Naples Airport we will be transferred to our hotel, where we can settle in before spending the rest of this first day at leisure. In the evening, we wrap the day up with a welcome drink and dinner at the hotel.
We wake up to breakfast at the hotel, before our departure for an exciting day, tasting some of the greatest products in the area. This morning we enjoy a private mozzarella making demonstration at ‘La Sorgente’, a family-run farm for three generations. Marciano’s family will welcome us to their estate where lemons, oranges, mandarins, olives grapes grow. The family members will show us how the famous mozzarella cheese is produced by hand. Also, we can then taste different products such as mozzarella, spiced ricotta cheese and homemade bread. After the mozzarella demonstration, lunch will be served with all local products and wine. After lunch, we’ll be transferred to Sorrento to enjoy a Limoncello tasting at ‘I Giardini di Cataldo’, where the owners will show their lemon garden and how they produce the famous Limoncello liquor, from the peeling to the bottling. The visit will end with a tasting of the Limoncello liquor!
We wake up to an early breakfast at the hotel, followed by a leisurely walk to the port (approx. 15 mins) in Naples to board the public boat service that will take us to Capri. Upon arrival we take the cable car to reach the town of Capri where we will spend some time exploring this enchanting part of the island, walking, taking in the special atmosphere along the tiny pedestrian alleys. The famous Piazzetta, the beautiful Augustus Gardens, the narrow winding streets with delightful small shops and the fantastic view of the Faraglioni, the imposing rock formations rising from the blue Mediterranean water, definitely one of Capri’s best-known landmarks.
After breakfast, we prepare for a full day in Naples. In the morning we enjoy the panoramic tour through Lungomare Caracciolo, Mergellina, Posillipo, Marechiaro, until we arrive at “Spaccanapoli”, in the historic centre of Naples. Here we will have free time to enjoy one of the pizzerias or restaurants in one of the colourful winding streets of this charming neighbourhood. After lunch we have a walking tour of the city center: Santa Chiara church (entrance fee included), Piazza del Plebiscito and Maschio Angioino.
In the evening, dinner will be served at the hotel.
We charge our batteries with breakfast at the hotel before departing to Mount Vesuvius up to 1000 meters. Here we will meet our specialised guide who will take us to the summit. Mount Vesuvius is the best-known volcano on earth; it dominates the Bay of Naples with its characteristic cone. Around midday there will be free time for lunch. We will then proceed to Pompeii, where we will join our guide to discover the most significant archaeological site of Naples Bay, buried under lava and ash from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and lay forgotten for hundreds of years. We enjoy a walking tour of Pompeii that includes the visit of the interiors of the homes, ancient streets, the Amphitheatre, and the ancient Forum.
Our breakfast at the hotel is followed by a day travelling along one of the most intriguing coastlines in the World. For centuries, the little villages have stayed quiet and almost immersed in a dreamlike atmosphere. It was only in the early 50’s that more and more families discovered the hospitality of those genuine local people that for generations had just dedicated their time to fishing and to the cultivation of a very wild landscape, creating the most impressive scenery of artificial terraces. What is left of that glorious past is for sure the most important monument in town, the Duomo, with an impressive façade decorated with gorgeous mosaics at the top and a Moorish lower.
We will have some free time for lunch before continuing to the top of the mountains to Ravello, situated at 1100 feet above the sea level, the views of the coast below are for sure the most breath-taking scenery. The town of Ravello is the best place where to we can leave the crowds to enjoy the quiet of a village, where most of the historical centre is still untamed, and still recalling the magnificence of the grand private residences.
Wake up to breakfast at our hotel and then spend the day at leisure either further exploring Naples or perhaps taking an optional excursion to the Isle of Ischia, Hecolaneum or Paestuem and Salerono. There is also the option to head back to Sorrento by train to spend more time in this glorious town to enjoy the piazzas and narrow, winding streets.
In the evening, wrap the day up with dinner at a local restaurant.
