Telford Hotel & Golf Resort

For a fun and friendly weekend, join us at the Telford Hotel & Golf Resort in the Shropshire countryside, perfect for unwinding and enjoying some sociable golf on a course that is proved to be a challenging test for all golfers. It is here where Woosnam won his first professional tournament and is one of the most spectacular courses in the county.

The perfect weekend away

Our weekend breaks includes two rounds of golf with great early morning tee-times on Saturday and Sunday. The perfect combination for exercise and socialising whilst putting and chipping.

Golf Schedule – 2 rounds

1 x Telford Golf Course
18 holes, 6741 yards, Par 72, Championship Course
Handicap certificates are not required.

Designed by John Harris and Brian Griffiths this course features a mix of water hazards, tree lined fairways and stunning views overlooking the Severn Valley and the Ironbridge Gorge. Beware of the 8th which is a 382 yard par 4 as you need to avoid 2 bunkers and then negotiate the tricky water hazard to reach the green!

The Golf Club also features a chipping area, driving range, 2 putting greens, a practice bunker, bar (close to the 18th) and golf shop.

Useful Information

Hotel Location:
The hotel can be reached off Junction 4 of the M54 or Telford station is approximately 5 mile away. Complimentary car parking is available.

Golfing Schedule:
2 rounds of organised golf at Telford Golf & Spa Hotel.

Golf Handicaps
A golf handicap is not necessary for this holiday.

Golf Club Insurance
Clients will most probably find that their golf clubs are covered on their household insurance policy. Most policies cover a single item such as golf clubs for a period out of the country. However, clients should make very sure that they do have cover. If not, Solo’s Holidays insurance includes cover for golf clubs and bag.

Buggy, Trolley & Club Hire
Most golf clubs have these items available for hire, however this is not always the case, so clients would be advised to check with us beforehand if they have any specific requirements.

Golf Footwear
Golf shoes with soft spikes are required.

Carriage of Clubs
We advise you to use a light golf bag when packing your clubs. We suggest you wrap a towel round the neck of the clubs to protect them and stop them rattling around whilst in transit. It is also important to then place the bag and clubs in an outer carrying bag, which can be purchased from any good golf shop.

What to Wear
Golf attire during the day. We suggest smart casual for the evenings.

Gratuities
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover  restaurant, kitchen and reception staff of approximately £5. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% of the metered fare.
