CampoReal

18 Holes, 6009 metres, Par 72

CampoReal, which opened in 2005, is set in beautiful countryside in the hills to the north of Lisbon and the surrounding landscape of vineyards provides a stunning backdrop to many of the holes. Host to Ladies European Tour Events in 2010 and 2011 and designed by renowned architect Donald Steel, the course meanders through the naturally undulating terrain, providing a challenging and fun test to all standards of players. The tricky greens are built to USPGA specification, but there are relatively few bunkers on the course to trap the errant ball. The modern clubhouse has beautiful panoramic views over the course where you can sit and relax with your post-round refreshment.

West Cliffs

18 holes, 6382 metres, Par 72

The Cynthia Dye designed West Cliffs Golf Course has already received numerous top honours and rankings since opening in 2017. This championship links course with views over the Atlantic Ocean from every hole, offers many interesting characteristics. This includes three lakes with one along the right side of the hole 3; another on the 9th short par 4, with dog-leg, in which longer players can risk going for the green over water; and a third on the 18th. One distinctive aspect of this golf course are the collection of bunkers with irregular shapes, mixed with native vegetation.

Useful Information

Transfer Time

The transfer time from Lisbon Airport to the hotel is approximately 45 minutes, depending on weather and traffic.

Golfing Schedule:

5 rounds of organised golf per week: 4 x CampoReal, 1 x West Cliffs

Golf Handicaps

This trip is for golfers with a handicap of 36 or lower for ladies and 28 or lower for gentlemen.

Please advise our Reservations team of your handicap at the time of booking, alternatively you can add this to the special requirements box on our booking page. If you have a certificate please ensure you take it with you on the trip, this enables the Tour Leader to assess everyone’s ability, so that rounds and competitions can be organised fairly.

If you are uncertain about these requirements please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to advise you.

Golf Club Insurance

Clients will most probably find that their golf clubs are covered on their household insurance policy. Most policies cover a single item such as golf clubs for a period out of the country. However, clients should make very sure that they do have cover. If not, Solo’s Holidays insurance includes cover for golf clubs and bag.

Buggy, Trolley & Club Hire

Most golf clubs have these items available for hire, however this is not always the case, so clients would be advised to check with us beforehand if they have any specific requirements.

Golf Footwear

Golf shoes with soft spikes are required.

Carriage of Clubs

We advise you to use a light golf bag when packing your clubs. We suggest you wrap a towel round the neck of the clubs to protect them and stop them rattling around whilst in transit. It is also important to then place the bag and clubs in an outer carrying bag, which can be purchased from any good golf shop.

What to Wear

Golf attire during the day. We suggest smart casual for the evenings.

Gratuities

We suggest a Group Collection to cover transfer drivers, and hotel staff of €20.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Passports and visas

A full 10-year passport is required valid for at least the duration of your stay. Holders of passports with the inscription “British Citizen” or “European Union” do not require a visa.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you have the correct visa, a valid passport and any other travel documents for your holiday. All information provided relates to British citizens who hold or are entitled to apply for a British passport. For the most up-to-date visa information please visit; Portugal Foreign Advice

If you are not a British citizen and do not hold a British passport, you must make your own enquiries as to the applicable requirements. Alternatively, you can apply for your Visa with our preferred partner the Travel Visa company by selecting the following link; Travel Visa Company.
