Itinerary

View full itinerary

After arriving at Casablanca Airport, we will transfer to our hotel while doing a short tour of Casablanca en route. When evening comes, we can enjoy a welcome drink and dinner with other Solos guests at a local restaurant in Casablanca. Overnight Casablanca

  • Accommodation 4 * Mogador Marina Hotel
  • MEALS Dinner included

After breakfast at the hotel we will begin our journey to Chefchaouen, visiting Rabat on the way – the capital of Morocco.

While in Rabat, we will have a guided tour of the town and visit its medina, home to the Hassan tower and mausoleum of Mohammed V. We’ll also pay a visit to the Mausolée Mohamed V, Kasbah (fortress) of the Udayas and the Ruins of Ancient Roman Sala.

After soaking up the views, we will head to Chefchaouen (approximately 4 hour drive), stopping en route to enjoy the views of the Rif Mountains. Famously known as ‘The Blue City’, Chefchaouen is a photographer’s paradise! Overnight Chefchaouen

  • Accommodation 4 * Parador Hotel
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After breakfast at the hotel, we will begin our full day tour of Chefchaouen - a small city of around 40,000 inhabitants. Nestled amongst the Rif mountain range, the Tisouka and Megou mountains  rise over the town like two horns, thus giving the city its name (in Berebér it translates to "watch the horns!")

At 660m altitude and with very little traffic, the clean and fresh air invites us to spend time discovering the beauty of the area and its surroundings. While we’re here, we will visit the mystical blue medina surrounded by artisan shops, restaurants and high-end cafes: a feast for the senses. The rainbow of colours from products in the bazaars contrast beautifully with the blue painted houses.

A mixture of voices and sounds will guide us through the side streets until we arrive at the Uta el-Hammam square. Here we can observe the beauty of the Great Mosque and the Kasbah facing in front. Overnight Chefchaouen.

  • Accommodation 4 * Parador Hotel
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After breakfast at the hotel we will head to Fes (approximately 4 hour drive). On arrival we will check in at our hotel and freshen up before starting our tour of Fes. The tour takes us through the Old Medina and La Medrassa Attarine, which takes its name from the Souk al-Attarine, the spice and perfume market. In the evening, we will enjoy dinner with a traditional Moroccan family. Overnight Fes

  • Accommodation Riad Arabesque
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After the breakfast in our traditional Moroccan riad, we will transfer to Erfoud – a city known as the door to the desert. It will be a long but picturesque drive. On the way we will pass the mountains and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas mountain range, the ski resort of Ifrane and Azrou - a craft centre specialising in cedar woodwork. We will also stop for lunch in a local restaurant at Midelt before our arrival at Erfoud. Overnight Erfoud

  • Accommodation 4 * Kasbah Hotel Xaluca Arfoud
  • MEALS All meals included

Today will be the highlight of the trip! After breakfast at the hotel we will start our desert adventure in a 4x4, admiring the fantastic Erg Chebbi dunes which can rise up to 150 meters high! We will then have some time to rest and freshen up in our tents before enjoying a camel ride at sunset.

Our night will also be special, spent in the small Moroccan town of Merzouga in the Sahara Desert. The colourful private tents, which are made of carpets and traditional camel pelts, will create a calm and relaxing oasis in the middle of the vast desert. Overnight Merzouga

  • Accommodation Bivouac La Belle Etoile
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After breakfast at our campsite, we will depart for Ouarzazate – Morocco’s fascinating film capital. The town and its surrounding areas have been the home of several international TV ad film productions; scenes from Game of Thrones have even been filmed here! On the way we will pass the towns of Rissani, Alnif and Tinghir. We will also stop at Todgha Gorge for a great photo opportunity. In the afternoon we will arrive at our hotel in Ouarzazate. Overnight Ouarzazate

  • Accommodation 3 * Dar Chamaa
  • MEALS All meals included

After breakfast in our hotel we will begin our journey to Marrakech, stopping on the way at Ait Ben Haddou – a fortified city built of mud brick - a striking example of the architecture of southern Morocco. This is the place where famous movies such as Gladiator, Prince of Persia and the Mummy were filmed. Here, we will also visit the old village of Kasbah, where we can see how Berbers adapted their building techniques to the climate, living in harmony with the environment.

Afterwards we will continue our journey towards Marrakech, passing the breathtaking Tizi N’Tichka pass - a spectacular piece of French engineering built to replace the main caravan route connecting south and north. Along this route is a fascinating contrast of environments ranging from the rich, red-soil farming plains and fertile valleys above Marrakech to barren peaks and oases. Overnight Marrakech

  • Accommodation 4 * Opera Plaza
  • MEALS Breakfast included

After breakfast we will begin our sightseeing tour of Marrakech. Known as The Red City thanks to the hue of the thick walls surrounding the old city, it’s been a popular tourist destination in Morocco since the 1960s, attracting everyone from the Beatles to Sienna Miller.

It’s a place to engage the senses, and nowhere more so than in the famous souks. These vibrant markets are a whirlwind of colour and noise, where throngs of people weave between tightly packed stalls exhibiting pyramids of brightly coloured spices, richly woven rugs and a thousand other exotic goods. Enticing smells waft through the souks, and the clamour of voices haggling and the cries of vendors competing for customers provide a constant backing track.

Our tour takes us to the Majorelle Garden, Yves Saint Lauren Museum, The Berber Museum, Bahia Palace, Saadiens Tombs, Jamaa L’fna and Koutoubia Mosque (from the outside). Overnight Marrakech

  • Accommodation 4 * Opera Plaza
  • MEALS Breakfast included

After breakfast at our hotel, we will transfer to the charming fishing village of Essaouira for a well-deserved beach stay. Overnight Essaouira

  • Accommodation 4 * Cote Ocean Mogador
  • MEALS Breakfast included

Today we can enjoy some time on the beach or wander through the spice-scented lanes and palm-lined avenues of the fortified medina. Browse the many art galleries and boutiques, or watch fishing nets being mended and traditional boats being constructed in the atmospheric port. Overnight Essaouira

  • Accommodation 4 * Cote Ocean Mogador

Useful Information

Transfer time
The transfer time between Casablanca Airport and the hotel Mogador Marina is approximately 50 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Visas
British nationals don’t need a visa to enter Morocco for the purpose of tourism for up to 3 months.

When entering the country, make sure your passport is stamped. Some tourists have experienced difficulties leaving the country because their passport bears no entry stamp. More info

Passport validity
Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay in Morocco. No additional period of validity beyond this is required. Before travelling, make sure your passport isn’t damaged. Some travellers have been refused entry when travelling on damaged passports.

Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your sole responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant embassies and/or consulates of the countries in which you are planning to travel.

Gratuities
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £130.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Included programme
A sightseeing programme is included in your touring package.

Dress Code
During the day when sightseeing, we recommend casual, lightweight cotton clothing that covers the shoulders and knees (both men and women). You will find that smart casual wear is acceptable, even in the best hotels during the evening. We would recommend an umbrella or hat for protection against the sun. Comfortable shoes are a “must” for sightseeing. From time to time, your guide will advise you about observing local customs. Women are advised not to wear shorts or dresses that are too revealing as this can attract unwelcome attention in the streets - loose fitting trousers or slacks are ideal. Women should also cover their head and shoulders when entering a mosque and men should wear long trousers.]
