One of Europe’s most exhilarating cities, Barcelona offers a blend of modern architecture, art, delicious cuisine and vibrant nightlife. With its relaxed pace, this colourful Catalonian capital is a truly charming destination for a New Year city break.
After arriving at Barcelona Airport, we’ll head to our hotel in Barcelona. In the evening we will gather for a welcome drink and dinner at a local restaurant.
Today we will go on a guided walking tour to explore Barcelona’s city centre, Rambla and the Gothic Quarter.
The long and lively promenade of La Rambla is Spain’s most famous boulevard, cutting through the heart of Barcelona. This wide boulevard connects the Plaça de Catalunya, known for its fountains and statues. Restaurants, cafés, market stalls and old-style shops line the boulevard along the way, plus you may find yourself being entertained by live music, dance performances and bewitching human statue art.
The rest of our day is at leisure to enjoy all this city has to offer before we meet in the evening for dinner at a local restaurant.
After breakfast we meet our guide who will show us how the festive season is celebrated in the city. On our tour we will learn about belenes (nativity scenes) which are the special exhibition of art objects representing the birth of Jesus and is one of the most antique Spanish Christmas traditions around.
After our walking tour the rest of the day is ours to relax or continue sightseeing before we get ready for our New Year’s Eve celebration dinner in a local restaurant.
Happy New Year!
After a leisurely breakfast we will have a few more hours to enjoy this wonderful city before heading to the airport for our return flight.

A warm jacket, sweater and scarf will keep you nice and toasty, whilst a small hand umbrella for emergencies never hurts (you can always buy one a store though if it does rain). You shouldn’t need any specialist footwear, beyond good walking shoes. Don’t forget your sunglasses because the winter sun can be quite low and bright.
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £15.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
