Extras
On arrival in Podgorica we will meet our English speaking driver and transfer to Dubrovnik (165km). Along the way we will stop for lunch at Konavoski Dvori restaurant for a three course meal before heading on to our hotel in Dubrovnik. We will be spending the next 3 nights at the 5* Hotel Dubrovnik Palace in superior single rooms with balcony and sea views.
After check in we will meet for our Welcome Drink followed by dinner in the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel we depart to Dubrovnik old town and meet with our local guide at the Pile gates.
George Bernard Shaw once said “Those who seek paradise should come to Dubrovnik.” Nestled between the Adriatic and the Dinaric Alps, this tranquil, medieval city is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site – gaze in wonder at the splendour of Dubrovnik’s tiled roofs, marble streets and ancient city walls all set beside the shimmering sea. Our sightseeing tour here includes the Rectors palace, Orlando’s Column and Onofrio’s Fountain, in addition to visiting a number of places where Game of Thrones, Star Wars and Robin Hood were filmed.
After breakfast the day is ours to further explore or relax, or maybe a bit of both!
Hotel Dubrovnik Palace nestles on the scenic seafront between a pine forest and the turquoise coastal waters of the lush Lapad peninsula. We are just a few minutes’ drive north west of medieval Dubrovnik Old Town so it is easy to visit further in the Old Town. Alternatively you can take advantage of the great facilities our hotel has on offer which includes a Wellness and Spa area with an indoor pool, relax zone, treatment rooms (extra costs apply), sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. You may also want to soak in the view from the comfort of the lounge bar!
After breakfast today we will check out and transfer towards Montenegro. Along the way we stop in Kotor to meet with our local guide for sightseeing of Kotor old town.
The beautiful walled town of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most visited coastal towns in Montenegro. Flanked by steep-sided mountains, the Bay of Kotor is the jewel in Montenegro’s crown! From the waterfront promenade we can follow a maze of stone paths to Orthodox churches, cathedrals, Venetian palaces, boutiques and piazzas with welcoming cafes, bars and restaurants.
After breakfast your day is at leisure before we get together in the evening for our New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Our hotel has extensive facilities that you may like to use during your free time including soothing treatment rooms (extra costs apply), relaxation space, indoor pool, fitness area, Finnish sauna and steam room. There is also a choice of bar/lounges and restaurants where you can indulge or find a quiet spot.
Happy New Year! Today the hotel will serve a breakfast/brunch for those of us that do not want to rush up after our New Year’s Eve event the night before!
Following a lazy breakfast, we have the day to relax and take it easy. We can either stay and use the hotels facilities or venture in to Budva old town which is a short walk from our hotel.
After breakfast we depart from our hotel towards Cetinje, and visit vinery Markovic.
The city of Cetinje is the former royal capital of Montenegro and sits at the base of the Lovcen mountain.
We are heading on a vineyard and cellar tour where we will have the opportunity to taste local brandy and wine to see what our preference may be! We will also have the opportunity to try traditional Montenegrin snacks, coffee and dessert in the ceremonial hall.
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to Podgorica Airport for our flight home.
We stay in comfortable hotels throughout as detailed below;
5* Hotel Dubrovnik Palace – Dubrovnik
4* Avala Resort – Budva
The transfer time from Podgorica airport to Dubrovnik is approximately 2hr 3omin (we stop for lunch on the way).
The transfer time from Budva to Podgorica airport is approximately 1 hour.
Casual daytime wear is recommended. Comfortable walking shoes are a “must” for sightseeing. Layers are also a good idea as the weather can be changeable at this time of year. Smart casual clothes will be ideal for the evenings – feel free to ‘dress up’ for New Year’s Eve.
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of €30.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
