Join us welcoming in 2023 with our new “New Years” break in the diverse city of Sheffield. We stay at the modern 4* Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel & Spa joining onto the hotel’s New Year’s Eve Gala Event – we can be sure to have a great time celebrating and seeing in the new year!
Our hotel welcomes us with a Solos welcome drink followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant. A great opportunity for the group to get to know each other!
After breakfast we will meet us at our walking guide at our hotel to begin our 1.5 hour tour which provides an interesting, fun and informative introduction to the best of old and new Sheffield.
Once back at the hotel you may like to relax using the hotels leisure facilities before it’s time to get ready to party! We will enjoy a welcome glass of fizz as we join other hotel guests and let our hair down for the hotel’s New Years Eve Gala Dinner and dancing to take us into 2023.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before we bid each other a fond farewell.
The 4-star Mercure Sheffield St Paul’s Hotel & Spa is perfectly located in the heart of Sheffield city centre. Its central location provides guests with-easy access to major transport links, including Sheffield railway station and also central to all the cities main attractions, shops, bars and restaurants.
Facilities include the Yard Restaurant and the Champagne Bar, an indoor heated pool and fully equipped fitness centre and the spa has a sauna, steam room, snail shower and ice fountain.
All rooms are en suite with hairdryer, telephone, satellite TV, tea & coffee making facilities, iron & ironing board, laptop safe and free WiFi
Guests travelling by road should exit the M1 at J33 and follow the signs to Sheffield – the postcode is S1 2JE. There is no car park at the hotel, however hotel guests do get a 25% discount at the Q park on Charles Street which is just across from the hotel https://www.q-park.co.uk/en-gb/cities/sheffield/charles-street/. The nearest mainline train station of Sheffield is 0.5 miles from the hotel.
The dress code for during the day is casual. In the evenings the dress code is smart and feel free to ‘dress-up’ for the New Year’s Eve Gala Event. Comfortable shoes for walking and sightseeing are recommended.

The Included Tour – A morning guided walking tour is included of Cambridge. Please ensure you are able to manage a walking tour which will be approximately 90 minutes in duration.
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides and hotel staff (including restaurant, kitchen and reception staff) of approximately £10-£20 . Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% of the metered fare.

I was so nervous about embarking on my first Solos Holiday, but I shouldn’t have been – it was the best thing I have ever done!
Wow! Got to see the famous shipwreck beach in Zakynthos with Solos. Can’t wait to discover more of their destinations!
