With views of Mount Fuji on a clear day, Shimizu is one of Japan's most scenic ports. See the Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, a National Treasure. The impressive Kumamoto Castle, is the main attraction in Kumamoto. Head to Suizenji Garden created in 1630, with its miniature Mount Fuji. With an overnight in Osaka, you'll have plenty of time to explore its top attractions. At night, head to Dotonbori for its Times Square-style neon lights, shopping and dining.

In the shadow of Mount Fuji, Shimizu is one of the most beautiful ports in Japan. Walk through the pine groves of Miho, home to a 650-year-old Japanese black pine, or enjoy spectacular views of Mount Fuji from the lush, forested hill of Nihondaira. Take in the seascapes on a bay cruise, or learn of undersea delights at Japan's first sushi museum, and get a glimpse at feudal life in Japan in 200 BC at the archaeological site of Toro. Shop for traditional Japanese wooden handcrafts and fabrics unique to the region, and sample some yokan, a sweet jellied confection.

Busan - South Korea's second largest city - is a harmonious blend of age-old culture and contemporary metropolitan flair. The downtown skyline and Bampo Bridge are two of Busan's visual wonders. Situated on the island of Kyushu, Kumamoto is nicknamed "Hi No Kuni" (Fire Country) due to its proximity to stunning Mount Aso-an active volcano. The city's castle, temples and shrines offer a glimpse into the region's storied past whilst the surrounding mountainside offers incredible vistas of the vibrant city and lush countryside. For a peaceful stroll, visit the popular Suizenji Jojuen Park, which is a beautifully landscaped traditional Japanese garden constructed around a natural spring pond. To dive into even greater relaxation, soak in the healing powers of Ueki Hot Springs that are located outside the city.

Situated between mountains and the sea, Kobe is Japan's sixth-largest city and a port bustling with culture and fine cuisine. Named after its origin, famous Kobe beef is one of the delicacies to enjoy at the many gourmet restaurants. Japan's fourth largest city by population, Nagoya, is a centre of modern commerce, with Toyota, Noritake china and a Legoland theme park calling this capital home. Tour the Toyota Exhibit Hall, experience Noritake Gardens and sit amongst the stars in the planetarium at the Science Museum. Nagoya Castle, deemed a National Treasure, is a must-see, as is exploring their entertainment district, Sakae. This busy hub is where you'll find Nagoya TV Tower, the city's symbol, and Oasis 21, a multi-level public park with a futuristic water theme.

Useful Information

Before Departure

Before you depart, you must be sure to have your cruise documentation, including passports or visas if needed. You can also Check-In any time online up to 24 hours prior to sailing, saving you lots of time at the pier.

To get to Online Check-In, and more things you can reserve before your cruise, Log In to My NCL. Go to the Holiday Summary section and follow the links to "Check-In". (You'll need personal info such as birth date, address, emergency contact info, passport and document numbers for each guest). Once Online Check-In is complete for all guests in your stateroom, and your cruise is paid in full, you should be able to download your eDocs (30 days prior to sail date). Make sure you bring a printed copy of your eDocs with you to the pier. This will serve as your boarding pass.

Passport Information

All Non-U.S. Citizen Guests Must Carry A Valid Passport, (Not Expiring within (6) Months of Return Of Your Cruise). In addition, a tourist visa may be required for entry into certain countries/ports of call. To confirm the specific documents required, please be sure to check with the proper authorities (such as your local immigration office) for each port that you are entering.

 How do I pay for onboard expenses?
For your convenience, all shipboard expenses are charged to your Onboard account. Sign up when you check in, establishing your method of payment with Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB Card, Diner's Club. You may also use your debit card however please be advised that we obtain pre-authorisation, as we do for all Credit Cards, and some banks hold these funds for up to 30 days. Cash can also be used as a method of payment to settle your account with an initial deposit paid in advance.

Using your debit or ATM card

Norwegian does not recommend the use of a debit card as payment for your onboard folio.
Please be advised that multiple holds will be placed on your debit card account based on your onboard purchases.
After settling your onboard folio, these debit card holds may remain on your account up to 30 days after the cruise ends.
To avoid overdraft charges from your bank, please make sure that you have enough available funds in your account during this hold period.
Norwegian will not be responsible for overdraft charges resulting from holds placed on Debit Card accounts.

Traveller's Check / Cash Procedures

A cash deposit may be placed on your onboard account in the following amounts:

7 day cruises - $300 USD per person
Less than 7 days - $150 USD per person
More than 7 days - $450 USD per person

Once you have exceeded the deposited amount, your account will be closed to further charges. You can deposit as much money as often as you'd like throughout the cruise, however, refunds cannot be made until the day of disembarkation for any excess.

**Personal checks will not be accepted, nor can they be cashed on board.

Shore Excursions

Many of the popular tours sell out quickly, so be sure to reserve your "must do" Shore Excursion choices no later than two days before your cruise. Log In to My NCL to see the excursions available on your itinerary.

What Clothes Should I Pack?
When it comes to what to wear, you can go resort casual or get decked-out and look your best - it’s your call. Feel Free to wear what you like. We even have special “Dress-Up or Not Night.” It’s the perfect opportunity to get your portrait taken or even with the ship’s Captain. Cruise Casual: the Freedom of Freestyle Cruising Dress cruise casual anytime during the day, in the buffet and in most speciality restaurants. For women, it includes summer and casual dresses, skirts, regular or capri pants, shorts, jeans and tops. Khakis, jeans, shorts and casual shirts are fine for men. Swimwear is acceptable at the buffet and outdoor restaurant, but a shirt or a cover-up and footwear are required. Be sure to pack a sweater — the air conditioning can be chilly. Please Note: We want you to be comfortable, but tank tops for men, flip flops, baseball caps, visors and jeans that are overly faded, with holes or tears and worn below the hips are not permitted in main dining rooms or speciality restaurants. Ready for Adventure: Shore Excursions Think about the shore excursions you'll be taking and pack accordingly, including comfy walking shoes.  All Decked-out: Smart Casual Dress smart casual in our more formal dining room or in the more upscale speciality restaurants. For women, it includes slacks or jeans, dresses, skirts and tops. For men, it's jeans or slacks with a collared shirt and closed-toed shoes. Kids 12 and under are welcome to wear nice shorts in all our restaurants. Special Events: Theme Nights and Parties Our newest event, Norwegian's Night Out, is the perfect opportunity to get dressed up for an evening of cocktails, fine dining and great entertainment. You may also want to pack an all-white ensemble for our iconic White Hot Party.

WHAT CANT I BRING ON BOARD
Passengers should not bring the following items onboard any Norwegian Cruise Line ship:

Samsung Galaxy Note7
In light of recent safety issues with the Samsung Galaxy Note7, we are asking our guests who own this model to please avoid travelling with this mobile device. The Federal Aviation Administration has banned the Samsung Galaxy Note7 from all air travel, and until further notice, this device will be restricted from all Norwegian Cruise Line ships. Fire is one of the greatest threats at sea and due to the safety concerns these devices present, if one is found in a guest's possession or unattended in a stateroom onboard, our policy instructs the crew to confiscate the device for safekeeping. The device will remain in our possession, in a safe, monitored location, for the duration of the cruise. Guests can reclaim their device at the conclusion of the cruise from the reception desk.

Alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages of any kind including water, soda and juices*

Unsealed food items will not be allowed onboard.

Firearms, weapons of any kind, ammunition, explosive substances or any goods of a dangerous nature

Irons / Ironing Boards and Steamers
Guests are not permitted to bring and use their own irons or steamers onboard. Norwegian Cruise Line carries a limited number of irons and ironing boards which can be loaned to guests for a few hours at a time. They can be requested through housekeeping or Guest Services Desk.
Irons and steamers would both be taken from guests at embarkation and returned at the end of the sailing.

Animals of any kind, except service or guide animals, provided the passenger notifies Carrier prior to the cruise of his intention to bring such animal and agrees to take sole responsibility for any expense, damage, injuries or losses associated with or caused by such animal.

Large Batteries, Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRB), ham radios, satellite phones, transformers, lasers and laser pointers are not allowed onboard.

Beauty parlour and spa services include hair styling, manicures, pedicures, facials and massages in our Mandara Spa Salon. Gift shops feature duty-free shopping, with fine jewellery, perfumes, clothing, cosmetics and limited drug store items. Laundry & dry-cleaning services. Internet Café. Art auctions. Photographs taken throughout the cruise.
