Travel back in time, admire architectural masterpieces and soak up the ambience on our classically Italian city break!

Welcome to the eternal city of Rome! After arriving at Rome Airport, we’ll proceed through immigration and collect our luggage before heading to our hotel in Rome for a Solos welcome drink and dinner at a local restaurant.
After breakfast we will begin our half day walking guided tour of Rome. Throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain – an awe-inspiring Baroque masterpiece featuring a marble statue of Neptune at the centre, surrounded by tritons. We will then proceed to the Piazza di Spagna, one of the most famous squares in Rome and home to the city’s fanciest boutiques on Via dei Condotti – Rome’s legendary shopping street. Gaze at the architectural marvel of the Pantheon – the burial place of Rome’s kings and other prominent figures – before finishing our tour at the magnificent, oval-shaped Piazza Navona, lined with restaurants, gelaterias and souvenir shops.
The rest of the day is free for you to explore Rome independently.
Today is free for you to spend however you wish. The city of Rome is easy to get around on foot or by public transport. Plus, the included 72-hour Roma Transport Card grants you free access to public transport throughout the city. Why not go on a food journey? Enjoy tasty oven-baked pizzas, refreshing gelato and local wine on a long Italian-style lunch.
After breakfast we’ll transfer to the airport for our return flight home.
In a former monastery along a tree-lined street, this informal hotel is 10 minute walk to a metro station and just over 1 mile from the ancient Colosseum.
Hotel San Giovanni offers a bar and lounge area. Breakfast is typical in Italian style and served in the hotel’s dining room.
All single rooms are tastefully furnished and equipped with adjustable air conditioning, television, telephone, safe-deposit box and Wi-Fi Internet connection is available throughout.
The transfer time from Rome Fiumicino Airport to your hotel in Rome is approximately 45 minutes, depending on the traffic.
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £15.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

I was so nervous about embarking on my first Solos Holiday, but I shouldn’t have been – it was the best thing I have ever done!
