(Dress code – Women should wear attire covering their arms and legs and should cover their head with scarf. Men should wear normal shirt and trousers). From here we move on to Muttrah and its fish and vegetable markets while mingling with the locals and experiencing the sights, sounds and fragrances. After lunch, the afternoon is at leisure or take an optional boat ride for a sunset cruise. Overnight Muscat

Leaving Muscat today for Sur we stop off at the Bimah Sinkhole. This deep natural depression is filled with water and according to the locals is where a meteor fell. After lunch we take in beautiful Wadi Tiwi with its deep gorge and turquoise pools. It’s then on to Sur with its old dhows and home of the legendary “Sinbad, the sailor”. This evening there is the option to observe the nesting habits of green turtles at the Ras Al Jinz Scientific Centre. Overnight Sur

This morning we take a drive over to the enchanting Wadi Bani Khalid, passing endless date plantations. Useful Information

Visas

British nationals need a visa to enter Oman. You should apply for an e-visa before you travel. Applications can be made through the Royal Oman Police portal. If you’re travelling as a tourist, you can apply for an unsponsored visa. For all other visas, please follow the guidance on the portal.

Your specific passport and visa requirements, and other immigration requirements are your sole responsibility and you should confirm these with the relevant embassies and/or consulates of the countries in which you are planning to travel.

Passport validity

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Oman.

Yellow fever certificate requirements

Check whether you need a yellow fever certificate by visiting the National Travel Health Network and Centre’s TravelHealthPro website.

Travelling with medication

Some prescribed and over the counter medicines available in the UK are banned substances in Oman. If you are travelling to Oman with prescription drugs, carry a copy of the prescription. For further information, check with Oman’s Ministry of Health well in advance of travel.

Transfer time

The transfer time between Muscat Airport and the hotel Al Falaj is approximately 30 minutes, depending on the traffic.

Gratuities

We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £50.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.

Included programme

A sightseeing programme is included in your touring package.

Optional Excursions

Our tours are planned to be as fully inclusive as possible. However, from time-to-time your Solos Tour Leader or Local Guide may suggest optional tours/sightseeing in addition to the standard sightseeing planned for that city. Such options are at an additional cost (payable in local currency). If you do not wish to take part in any optional extras, you will have the option of enjoying some free time at leisure or to return to the hotel.

Sunset Cruise in Muscat including transfers- USD70.00

Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve including transfers- USD65.00

Mountain Crossing of Wadi Bani by 4WD Jeeps (min 2 passengers) - USD$150.00

Dress Code

During the day when sightseeing, we recommend casual, lightweight cotton clothing that covers the shoulders and knees (both men and women). You will find that smart casual wear is acceptable, even in the best hotels during the evening. We would recommend an umbrella or hat for protection against the sun. Comfortable shoes are a “must” for sightseeing. From time to time, your guide will advise you about observing local customs. On certain occasions it will be necessary to remove your shoes to enter temples so easily removable footwear (eg. trekking sandals) is recommended. Women are advised not to wear shorts or dresses that are too revealing as this can attract unwelcome attention in the streets - loose fitting trousers or slacks are ideal. Women should also cover their head and shoulders when entering a mosque and men should wear long trousers.

Please note

A reasonable level of fitness/mobility is required as we include plenty of sightseeing/travelling, sometimes with early starts. Please refer to Medical Conditions in Important Information.
