About this holiday

Day 1 – Kathmandu. After checking-in at our hotel we get to know our fellow travellers whilst enjoying a welcome drink and typical Nepalese dinner with a cultural show at a local restaurant. Overnight Kathmandu (D)

Day 2 – Kathmandu. We spend the day exploring the highlights of Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu. Standing at an elevation of approximately 1,400m in central Nepal, it is surrounded by four major mountains. In the morning we will visit the cities number one attraction, Durbar Square and Kumari Temple where you can marvel at monuments from the 12th Century. After lunch at a local café we visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Swayambhunath and Patan City, an area renowned for its artisans and superb handicrafts. Overnight Kathmandu (B, L)

Day 3 – Kathmandu-Chitwan. After breakfast, we will take a short flight to Chitwan. The UNESCO world heritage site and Nepal’s first designated National Park, because of this it has some fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities and is home to the One-Horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephants, a multitude of birdlife and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger. Day 4 – Chitwan. Today we spend a further day immersing ourselves in the jungle with a full day of activities including canoe rides, walks and a visit to the local ‘Tharu’ tribal community. Overnight Chitwan (B, L, D)

Day 5 – Chitwan-Pokhara. After breakfast we drive to Pokhara. Set on the edge of several beautiful lakes it also offers stunning panoramic views of the nearby Himalayan peaks. In the evening we enjoy a boat ride at Phewa Lake then take a stroll around a bustling local market. Overnight Pokhara (B)

Day 6 – Pokhara. We will spend the morning visiting the International Mountain Museum which focuses on those travelling for mountaineering and different mountain cultures and then the Gurkha Museum which provides a rich history of these hardy soldiers who joined the British Army in 1815. In the afternoon you can explore independently or choose from a variety of optional excursions such as paragliding, light aircraft flights and zip lining. Overnight Pokhara (B)

Day 7 – Pokhara-Rupakot. After breakfast we drive to Rupakot. The rest of the day is spent at leisure where you can soak up the panoramic views of the iconic Annapurna mountain range. Overnight Pokhara (B)

Day 8 – Rupakot. Enjoy a further free day in Rupakot, where we can relax in our beautiful surroundings or join a complimentary hike from the hotel to explore more of the local area. Overnight Rupakot (B)

Day 9 – Rupakot-Bandipur. Today we travel on to Bandipur; located on a ridge 1000m above sea level, it commands spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains. The rest of the day is at leisure, but perhaps we could visit Bindyabasini temple on the Eastern side of the town, which houses the goddess Durga, Bandipur’s guardian deity. Overnight Bandipur (B)

Day 10 – Bandipur-Kathmandu. After breakfast in our hotel we continue the journey back to Kathmandu. The rest of the day is spent at leisure giving you time to soak up the wonderful atmosphere in this fascinating city. Overnight Kathmandu (B)

Day 11 – Kathmandu. This morning we visit the nearby city of Bhaktapur pausing to meet with a local Newari family.In the afternoon we head to Bouddhanath, one of Nepal’s most important Bhuddhist sites before heading to a monastery for a Lama blessing. This evening we visit Pashupatinath, Nepal’smost sacred shrine and enjoy an Aarati ceremony on the banks of the Bagmati River. Overnight Kathmandu (B)

Day 12 – Kathmandu. Today we can enjoy some time at leisure before transferring to the airport for our return flight to London Heathrow. (B)
