Full of charming medieval hill towns, vibrant cities and dense forests, all set in some of the most stunning scenery Italy has to offer, Umbria appeals to just about anyone. We’re particularly excited about this trip, so if you want to know exactly what we’ll be getting up to, then here is our itinerary for this amazing Italian experience. And did we mention the local wine…

Our Itinerary for Tastes of Umbria 2021

Day 1

After landing at the airport, we’ll transfer to our hotel in Trevi, where we’ll enjoy a welcome drink of prosecco – the perfect way to get to know our fellow travellers!

Day 2

For our first day we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the medieval town of Trevi where we learn about its long and fascinating history. We’ll then tie up our aprons to take part in a traditional Italian cooking class (which we will of course tuck into for our lunch!). The rest of the day is then free to explore or do some shopping!

Day 3

After a lovely breakfast, we’ll transfer to the coast to relax in the sunshine, enjoy the beach and perhaps even have a dip in the sea! In the afternoon we’ll then transfer back to our hotel in Trevi.

Day 4

The fourth day of our trip will be full of free time to explore Trevi independently.  The medieval centre of Trevi is a network of alleys and narrow streets still surrounded in part by the original defensive walls. The raised position of the town means it also has some exceptional views across the Umbria countryside as far as Assisi and beyond. Or we could take an optional excursion to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Basilica, or shop for artisan products in the medieval streets. The choice is entirely yours!

Day 5

We’ll relax by the pool before an early afternoon transfer to Macerata. Set amid green hills, Macerata is a charming provincial town with a wonderfully preserved hilltop centre, its old town is threaded through by skinny cobblestone streets lined by honey-coloured brick palazzi and it springs to life in summer for the town’s celebrated month-long opera festival.

We’ll have some time to explore and then it’s off to the opera at the Sferisteiro Arena. On July’s tour you can see Verdi’s Il Trovatore and in August, Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

Day 6

Today we’ll be visiting a traditional Ricotta farm, where we will see animals living freely. Later in the day we’ll taste some freshly made ricotta cheese and homemade yogurt, before finishing off our visit with some Italian wine tasting!!!

Day 7

On our penultimate day, we will walk through the olive groves to the local family house where we will get to taste some delicious bruschetta produced by the family. The afternoon is then free to spend however you wish in Trevi.

Day 8

Unfortunately, today is our last day. After breakfast, we will transfer back to Rome for our flight back home.

We can’t wait to experience the Tastes of Umbria with you next year! For more information about this exciting holiday click here.
