About this holiday

High above the Mediterranean coast, lie the dramatic peaks of mainland Spain’s highest mountain range, the Sierra Nevada – glorious walking country where Spanish time has stood still for centuries.

We have a programme of 5 guided walks during the week, which include:

Acequia Acetuna and Lanjaron

A short scenic walk directly from the village into the Rio Lanjaron valley. From here we ascend to a delightful picnic area before following a second acequi through olive and almond groves above the village.

Niguelas and the Rio Torrente

Staring in the picturesque white village of Niguelas, our walk passes along a dramatic acequias pinned to a cliff face above the Rio Torrente valley. From there we follow the river before ascending to the village of Acequias.

White villages of the Taha

The Taha area of las Alpujarras is a mix of farmed mountain terraces and white villages perched on the north side of the dramatic Rio Trevelez gorge. Today we walk through this picturesque area taking in a number of these quaint villages using the network of paths across the area.

Today we head up through terraces and pine forest above Llanjaron before we follow a path across the head of a dramatic mountain valley. As we return to the village we can incorporate a trip to the towns Moorish castle perched dramatically on a cliff face below the village.

Orgiva and the ‘’ ruta de olivos centanarios’’.

Orgiva, was made famous in the book ‘Driving Over Lemons’. This circular route drops to the Rio Guadalfeo in the valley passing the distinctive ‘seven eye bridge; before heading through olive groves some of which contain the gnarled hundred year old olive trees.
