About this holiday
Out & About in Stockholm
Regardless of the time of year we visit our included guided tour helps us get our bearings.
With shops, restaurants and most of the sights right on our doorstep, it's easy to get around, whether by foot or purchasing a Stockholm Card which offers free admission to many sights and attractions as well as free public transport. Take time to visit the amazing Vasa Museum; the world's only surviving 17th century ship, which sank in 100 feet of water on her maiden voyage, now beautifully preserved. The museum explains in wonderful detail how she was built, how and why she sunk and how she was lifted from the murky depths of Lake Mälaren.
Mosey Around a Museum
Perhaps what makes Stockholm so special is its natural location as it is criss-crossed by vast open water and superb parks. Perhaps a visit to the famous Nobel Museum where we can learn more about the famous prize and its Laureates will appeal as with more than a hundred museums and attractions, there's something for everyone.
City of Islands - Copenhagen
Also known as Kongens village, the city is pleasingly crammed with street cafés, designer shops and some of the best restaurants in the world. Of course there are plenty of sites to gaze at, many of which we will spot on our included guided tour. This rich cultural city has much to offer so if you are not exploring the pretty waterfront or admiring the architecture, why not visit Frederiksborg Castle. Built by King Christian 4 in the 17th century, this palace is situated across three islets in Hillerød, north of Copenhagen. Following a devastating fire in the 19th Century, the castle was rebuilt by the owners of Carlsberg Breweries.
