About this holiday

With our base just outside the city of Oxford, we meet up on Friday evening with your Tour Leader for a social welcome drink before tucking into dinner and then a fun quiz.

Following breakfast on Saturday morning, we take a day out to beautiful Blenheim Palace. Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough as well as the birthplace of Winton Churchill, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was built as a gift from Queen Anne and the nation to the 1st Duke of Marlborough for his victory on the 13th of August 1704 at the Battle of Blenheim. The Palace today is home to countless treasures throughout the State Rooms including the famous tapestries. Take in the magnificent Long Library containing over 10.000 books lining the walls, many of which are hundreds of years old.

Christmas is a very special time of year and inside the Palace as well as the Courtyard we can enjoy the festive decorations. This year, all visitors can also discover pieces of art of this year’s art exhibition by Jenny Holzer. Once you have explored the Palace, we make like to explore the spectacular 2000 acres of parkland and gardens designed by ‘Capability’ Brown. From the formal gardens to the Water Terraces which have been compared to the famous Parterre d’Eau at the Palace of Versailles.

The following day why not head to Bicester Outlet Shopping Village for a spot of retail therapy or head into historic Oxford.
