About this holiday
With guided tours and time to
explore on our own, we have the
chance to hear stories brought
to life and discover sites at our
own pace. We meet our host
and fellow guests on Friday
evening for the customary Solos
welcome drink before tucking
into dinner. Afterwhich it’s time to
put our thinking caps on for our
entertaining light hearted quiz.
After breakfast on Saturday it’s
time to board our coach to Bath.
A World Heritage site since 1987,
the city and its honey-coloured
buildings are surrounded by
beautiful countryside. Containing
Britain’s only hot springs, our
guided tour takes us through
history where Royal visitors
once graced the streets and its
fashionable Spa. The afternoon
is ours to take in a museum, the
Roman baths, a gallery or high
class shops. Back at the hotel this
evening, we can relax over dinner
Sunday dawns with a walk down to
the Dockyard and a chance to step
back in time and board Brunel’s ss
Rescued from rust and beautifully
restored, our guide takes us back to
a time of first class opulence as well
as cramped steerage. Experience
the sights, sounds and even smells
of life aboard the world’s first great
ocean liner, created by the famous
Isambard Kingdom Brunel. We can
even go ‘underwater’ for views of
the ship below. After a bite to eat
for lunch (at own cost) why not take
in the city on a red open top bus
tour with sights including Clifton
Suspension Bridge, Avon Gorge,
some famous street art and the
Aquarium. Alternatively take a boat
tour of the Floating Harbour, one of
the best ways to see the docks and
hear about their history.
