About this holiday

Join us for a fabulous new walking weekend on mysterious Dartmoor with its ancient archaeological sites, majestic Dartmoor ponies and tremendous walking trails.

Join your Tour Leader and fellow walkers on Friday evening for a welcome drink and dinner at the hotel before heading out the following morning. After meeting our guide at Haytor, our full day walk starts from Hound Tor, part of the inspiration behind The Hound of the Baskervilles novel. We visit a Bronze Age burial site before heading over to Hound Tor Medieval Village and then on to Holywell Quarry and take in some of the industrial heritage of the moor and the famous Haytor granite tramway. After lunch (own cost) we walk part of the famous Templer Way, named after George Templer who ran the quarries and built the famous granite tramway. We end our days walk in the village of Bovey Tracey.

Sunday takes us into the village of Widecombe in the Moor where we walk up onto Hamel Down and along part of the Two Moors Way. We visit the crash site and memorial of the Hampden bomber which crashed in 1941 with the death of all on board. We will also be able to see more bronze age sites before we head back to Widecome for lunch (own cost) and then back to the hotel.
