About this holiday

Day 1 Hanoi After check-in at our hotel, we’ll enjoy a brief introductory tour of the city, before we relax and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight Hanoi (D)

Day 2 Hanoi We spend the day exploring Hanoi and its cultural highlights. In the afternoon, we’ll sit back and enjoy a cyclo tour around Truc Bach Lake before we take a walking tour around the tiny fascinating streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter including a local market, ancient tube house and stop for an egg coffee in the town’s oldest coffee shop. This evening we enjoy a fascinating water puppet show. Overnight Hanoi (B)

Day 3 Hanoi A full day at leisure to explore the city on our own or alternatively why not head to the village of Thanh Tri for a Vietnamese cooking class. After a short introduction we visit a local market with our chef learning about the ingredients before and cooking lunch. We travel overland to beautiful mountain town of Sapa in North West Vietnam. Day 4 Halong Bay One of the highlights of the tour is our time in Halong Bay where we board a junk for a spectacular cruise through this stunning bay. We’ll stop at a fishing village to witness local life and enjoy a cooking class on deck, before time to sit back, relax, enjoy the views and dinner on board. Overnight On Board (B, L, D)

Day 5 Hoi An After disembarking our cruise, today we fly to Da Nang and then transfer to the wonderful coastal town of Hoi An. Overnight Hoi An (B, D)

Day 6 Hoi An We’ll enjoy a walking tour in the old town of Hoi An, an exceptionally well-preserved example of an ancient South-East Asian trading port - the whole town is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Phuc Kien Pagoda and Japanese wooden bridge before learning how to make lanterns. This afternoon we head by boat down the Thu Bon River stopping at a traditional ceramic and carpentry village. Overnight Hoi An (B)

Day 7 Hoi An – Myson Just south of Hoi An is the lush green valley lies the former Champa Kingdom, My Son with its red brick towers and sanctuaries dating back centuries. We also stop at Tra Kieu, formerly known as Simhapura, the ancient capital. Overnight Hoi An (B)

Day 8 Ho Chi Minh City We take a morning flight to Ho Chi Minh City before we enjoy a tour of the highlights of the city visiting the former Presidential Palace (now a museum), the 19th century ‘Notre-Dame’ Cathedral and the historical district. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City (B, D)

Day 9 Ho Chi Minh City Today we head out towards Cu Chi and visit the amazing Cu Chi Tunnels, with their immense network of connecting underground tunnels used by the Viet Cong soldiers to hide in during the Vietnam war. In the afternoon we take in the War Remnants Museum and China town with its bustling market. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City (B, D)

Day 10 Ho Chi Minh City – Cai Be This morning we visit Cao Dai Temple before boarding a sampan for a cruise along the Mekong River to visit the spectacular colourful floating market. On the way we’ll stop at local factories to observe the manufacture of rice paste, coconut candies and other specialities. After a delicious lunch at an Indochinese villa on the banks of the river, we continue our cruise, so you can sit back and admire the stunning landscapes that we pass serenely through. Overnight Can Tho (B, L)

Day 11 Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City We rejoin our river cruise to visit the Cai Rang floating market and a local fruit farm as we explore daily life on Mekong Delta. On our way back to Ho Chi Minh, we enjoy a delicious lunch at the famous Phuoc Long pagoda which is famous for its collection of antiques and for the excellent vegetarian food prepared by the monks. Overnight Ho Chi Minh City (B, L, D)

Day 12 Ho Chi Minh City Free time before we transfer to the airport for our flight home. (B)
