Solos’ Anna and James discover the real Italy
How do we know our trips will hit the mark for our guests if we haven’t experienced it for ourselves? This September, we sent along two of our product experts for a fly-in visit to the most sought-after regions of Italy. Solos’ Anna and James had the chance to check out several locations and hotels – uncovering a bucket load of beauty for future guests to get a true taste of this incredible country.
Anna reveals all…
Puglia
“On arrival, we visited the picturesque region of Puglia and carried out an inspection of the D’Aragona Hotel that features in our ‘Puglia’s Hidden Gems’ trip. It is a fantastically presented proposition with spacious modern rooms and a large sized swimming pool. A particular high point is the beautiful outside terrace where breakfast is served, and stunning panoramic views.
We explored some of the local area and visited the quirky ‘Trulli Houses’ and breathtaking ‘Polignano a Mare’, known locally as the ‘Town of the Cliffs’. Beautiful views!”
Lake Garda
“We travelled North to visit the Hotel La Perla in the Lake Garda region which features in our ‘Lake Garda Walking’ offering. It is a lovely property which is perfectly positioned as you find yourself within just a few steps of the vibrant centre of Garda town.”
Lake Orta
“We then moved on to the Hotel Giardinetto by pretty Lake Orta which is part of our ‘Lake Orta’ tour. The hotel boasts gourmet standard food and wine which you can savour whilst taking in the enchanting views of the lake and surrounding landscape.”
Venice
“Next, we stopped at the ‘Smart Hotel’ which was conveniently set in the town of Mestre – a great gateway location just 30mins by tram from the heart of Venice. This is the base for our ‘Venice and Verona Carnival’ city break.”
Montecatini
“The final stop on our tour was the town of Montecatini where we managed to quickly visit a number of hotels that feature in our ‘Walking in Tuscany’ and ‘Treasures of Tuscany’ trips. Best of all, this provided us with the chance to meet some of the lovely customers who were in the midst of a Solos group walking holiday! A perfect opportunity to get first hand feedback.”
An invaluable trip
