Fully guided group holidays

Your accompanying Tour Leader keeps things fun, sociable, and stress-free, with many of them starting out as Solos guests! You might also hear them referred to as in-house icebreakers, sociable hosts, or travel gurus. With years of solo travel under their belts and a clear understanding of how it feels to take that leap, they really are our magic ingredient!

What do they do?

Around to ensure your holiday is hiccup-free, your Tour Leader oversees everything. From helping you settle in, to ensuring the holiday runs smoothly, to arranging days out. You name it, they do it.

How do they do it?

Whether it’s your first trip or your 30th, travelling alone can be overwhelming. But our Tour Leaders are known for taking the edge off. Well-travelled and loved by locals, their sole purpose is to make sure you have a good time, all the time.

How does it work?

You’ll be greeted on arrival in resort by your accompanying Tour Leader and have their support throughout. Leaving you and your fellow guests to roam on your own terms and enjoy the sights, you can relax in the knowledge that every part of your trip is taken care of.

Introducing a few of our Solos Tour Leaders

Meet Monica

“I have always been involved in travel as my parents had their own travel agency and organised trips all over the world. Consequently, I dreamt of sun, sea and socialising, which makes being a Tour Leader the best job in the world. It combines my two loves – people and travel. Solos gives you the opportunity to meet fantastic people, have a fabulous time and make lifelong friends. A lot of my guests are friends now and they regularly keep in touch with me and other guests. I have hosted Solos Exclusive, sun holidays, walking trips, skiing holidays, balls and dinner dances – I love them all! My favourite destinations are the Greek Islands.”

Meet Andy

“I have been travelling with Solos Holidays for a wee while now and I totally love it. I am passionate about all aspects of travel – the preparation, the logistics, the destination, the anticipation, the excitement and ultimately the people you share those experiences with. Life is often complicated and holidays ought to be the exact opposite – an opportunity to escape routine, rejuvenate yourself, explore, relax and have fun. Solos Exclusive is a great concept that delivers exactly that. I have enjoyed working at a number of our  properties in Greece and Antigua. I love all of the destinations that we travel to and have way too many favourite destinations, so I will simply say “the world”!”

Meet James

“I have worked as a Solos Tour Leader for the last three years. I’ve always enjoyed travelling, visiting interesting places – but most of all meeting people and making new friends. Working for Solos has been one of the best experiences of my life, every day is different and fun! Before I became a Tour Leader, I was a guest enjoying a lot of Solos holidays around Europe. My more recent tours include a party weekend in Stratford upon Avon which was brilliant! After a fantastic meal, we spent most the evening dancing the night away – I even got to show off a couple of my signature dance moves! I have also hosted Solos Exclusive in Zakynthos and particularly love the island boat trip to see Shipwreck Beach. My favourite destination is Greece and love exploring their history and mythology.”

Meet Nick

“I have lived in Vilamoura, the Algarve since 2009. I first started playing golf as a 10-year-old and really enjoyed it but didn’t start playing properly until I moved to the Algarve and became a member of Laranjal Golf Club. Apart from Laranjalmy three favourite courses are Palmares in the West Algarve, Monte Rei in the Eastern Algarve and Victoria course in Vilamoura – all of which can be used on Solos Holidays! As a lot of the Solos golf customers will agree, for me it is the social side of golf that I really enjoy. Spending four hours on the course and then enjoying the rest of the day talking about every shot! I did my first trip in September 2015 in Spain and my two favourite locations have to be Portugal and Turkey.”

Meet Annie

“I have been a Solos Tour Leader since 2017. I travelled with the company as a guest for three years before fellow guests and tour leaders recommended I should become one myself! This prompted me to do a Tour Management training course, after which I applied to Solos and was then offered my first city break tour to Krakow. Since then I have been a tour leader for a variety of holidays, both abroad and in the UK, including walking holidays and dinner dances.  My favourite tour so far must be Skiathos – I loved the first Mamma Mia film and to visit places seen in the film was so exciting! Italy and Greece are definitely my favourite countries – I’m even learning both languages to help me in my work!”

Meet Mark

“I’ve been a Solos Tour Leader for over five years. Before I started tour leading, I went on numerous Solos tennis holidays as a guest and through this have made some lifelong friends which is what I love about Solos Holidays! I also work as a TV extra and every 6 weeks or so I pop up on Coronation Street – blink and you will miss me! In past years, I have hosted Solos Exclusive at ZakynthosCorfuAntigua, and Crete. I have hosted over 50 holidays since I began working with Solos Holidays and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every single one of them. A few of my favourite destinations are Corfu for tennis, Austria on a walking holiday in the Alps and Tenerife where we experienced a sandstorm from the Sahara Desert!”

Meet Jane

“I have been working as a Tour Leader for Solos for the last 16 years after giving up a hectic life working as a HR director at a PR firm in London. Although I enjoyed my job, it didn’t give me enough time to get out there and see the world! I had always dreamt of visiting many different countries, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. Working with Solos has enabled me to do that. It has been an amazing adventure and I have met so many wonderful guests over the years. I have hosted all kinds of holidays from walking expeditions in Malta and exploring the city of Florence to the jungles and beaches of Costa Rica! Although I do not have a favourite destination, one place I love to return to time and time again is Crete.”
