Join us this Christmas in the picturesque Cotswolds. We stay at the Delta by Marriott Cheltenham Chase Hotel and enjoy a traditional festive lunch, a guided walking tour of Cheltenham and the ghostly village of Prestbury and the hotel’s evening entertainment – a great way to spend Christmas, and all in the company of our fellow Solos guests.
Extras
Welcome to Delta by Marriott Cheltenham Chase Hotel. We can check-in from 3pm, where welcome tea, coffee and mince pies will be served. Following a welcome meeting hosted by our Tour Leader, we will enjoy dinner in the hotel restaurant.
After a leisurely breakfast, we meet our walking guide for a tour of Cheltenham, famous for it’s Regency history, including the Pittville Pump Room, a remnant of Cheltenham’s past as a spa town. Following our tour, there will be time at leisure to explore further. We then move on to the pretty little village of Prestbury with its thatched cottages and peaceful streets. It is also said to be one of the most haunted villages in Britain; home to ghostly horsemen, at least one of which is headless, cavaliers and the Black Abbot.
In the evening, we all meet to enjoy a three-course dinner, followed by the opportunity to retire to the games room for an evening quiz.
Details of nearby church services are available at reception for Midnight Mass if you wish to go and on your return, tea or coffee and mince pies will be available.
A leisurely breakfast will be served from 7.30am – 10:30am and the main event follows at lunchtime with a three-course traditional plated Christmas lunch. The afternoon is our own to relax after our hearty lunch. The King’s Speech will be shown at 3pm with tea, coffee and Christmas cake in the hotel bar. Our evening meal is a relaxed affair in the form of a grazing board buffet.
Enjoy Boxing Day relaxing and enjoy the surroundings of our hotel and its leisure facilities.
Once evening comes, dinner will be served followed by evening entertainment with a musician.
A final delicious breakfast awaits us in the hotel restaurant from 8am – 10:30am before we wish each other a fond farewell.
Surrounded by rolling countryside with a backdrop of the Cotswold’s hills, this contemporary and well-appointed hotel is a superb base for our Cotswold’s Christmas break.

There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below. The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff (including restaurant, kitchen and reception staff) of approximately £10. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of bar staff and housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (the rounding up of the drinks bill and a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, restaurants expect a 10% gratuity (do check that service has not already been added to your bill). For taxis 10% of the metered fare.
