What you'll be doing

Hotel Valamar Meteor

Hotel Valamar Meteor stands at the foot of the majestic Biokovo mountains overlooking the sea with access to the seafront promenade and pebble beach of Makarska.

Hotel Valamar Meteor is contemporary in design and has a modern feel to it offering a wide choice of pretty spots to take advantage of the beautiful views. A favourite may have to be the outdoor infinity pool that offers a spectacular sea view!  The resort centre is a short walk away along the seafront promenade offering an array of shops, restaurants and lively bars for those that enjoy dancing the night away.

Makarska

Makarska is a smart seaside town, with its pretty promenade, shops, bars and restaurants. The town also provides a great base for those who want a bit of a mix of everything, from beaches to nightlife, as well as sightseeing and adventure as there is easy access along the coast to Spilt, day trips up to the Biokovo Mountains and also ferry and catamaran connections to the island of Brac. If days spent in Makarska are more your thing then there is plenty to see including St. Mark’s Church on the main square, which dates back to 1776 and the Franciscan monastery, which was founded and built in 1614 and now homes the Malacological museum where you can see the largest collection of snails, shells and mussels!

Omis & Cetina River Tour

As part of our week we will spend the day sightseeing along the Cetina River to Omis. Our first stop is Gubavica Waterfall, the highest waterfall on the Cetina River.  We then continue through the villages towards Omiš. Before arriving in Omiš, we stop at the cliff above the city which offers a stunning view over the sea, island Brač and Cetina Canyon. Omiš is a city known for its history of piracy. This charming city is home to many medieval fortresses, the most famous once being 13th century Mirabelle Fortress, and 15th-century Fortress Starigrad (Fortica). In addition, Omiš offers us a beautiful sandy beach, with restaurants and cafes scattered around. We will have some free time exploring the city before we hop on a boat for a ride up the Canyon of Cetina River. Our lunch will be taken along the banks of the Cetina River. We will enjoy dalmatian delicacies including meat and potatoes cooked under a traditional cast-iron bell. After lunch we head back to our hotel and the resort of Makarska.

Biokovo Skywalk Tour

At first glance, the Biokovo mountain looks grey and scanty, however, closer up, the mountain provides a great variety of flora and fauna. Our included tour allows us to discover the most beautiful parts of this mountainous region of Dalmatia, including a glass platform “Skywalk”! We can get our walking boots on to make the climb to the highest peak in Croatia – St. Jure which offers views over the coastal towns and cities, neighbouring islands, olive groves and abandoned vineyard terraces. These are just some of the scenes that can be captured with your camera! The Skywalk is a real treat where you can walk out on a purpose built glass walkway to take in the vastness of the scenery around you!
