4* Hotel Osejava
Two included excursions!
Join us as we enjoy a glorious holiday staying in the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. Our 4* boutique style hotel sits on the seafront in the pretty port town of Makarska, known for its beaches, seafront promenade and nightlife. During our week we will have two included excursions, one up in to the Biokovo National Park and the other along the Cetina River to Omis, a medieval seafront town with 13th Century fortesses to visit as well as a beautiful sandy beach lined with cafes and restaurants. Our week away will showcase the beauty this part of Croatia has to offer.
Hotel Osejava stands at the foot of the majestic Biokovo mountains overlooking the sea with access to the seafront promenade and small beach. Hotel Osejava is beautifully decorated and has a lovely laid-back atmosphere. The resort centre is a short walk away offering an array of shops, bars and restaurants and for those that enjoy dancing, the local nightlife, including a trendy nightclub known for its view of the sunsets, is close by.
Makarska is a smart seaside town, with its pretty promenade, shops, bars and restaurants. The town also provides a great base for those who want a bit of a mix of everything, from beaches to nightlife, as well as sightseeing and adventure as there is easy access along the coast to Spilt, day trips up to the Biokovo Mountains and also ferry and catamaran connections to the island of Brac.
If days spent in Makarska are more your thing then there is plenty to see including St. Mark’s Church on the main square, which dates back to 1776 and the Franciscan monastery, which was founded and built in 1614 and now homes the Malacological museum where you can see the largest collection of snails, shells and mussels!
As part of our week we will spend the day sightseeing along the Cetina River to Omis. Our first stop is Gubavica Waterfall, the highest waterfall on the Cetina River. We then continue through the villages towards Omiš. Before arriving in Omiš, we stop at the cliff above the city which offers a stunning view over the sea, island Brač and Cetina Canyon. Omiš is a city known for its history of piracy. This charming city is home to many medieval fortresses, the most famous once being 13th century Mirabelle Fortress, and 15th-century Fortress Starigrad (Fortica). In addition, Omiš offers us a beautiful sandy beach, with restaurants and cafes scattered around. We will have some free time exploring the city before we hop on a boat for a ride up the Canyon of Cetina River. Our lunch will be taken at Radman Mills along the banks of the Cetina River. We will enjoy dalmatian delicacies including meat and potatoes cooked under a traditional cast-iron bell. After lunch we head back to our hotel and the resort of Makarska.
At first glance, the Biokovo mountain looks grey and scanty, however, closer up, the mountain provides a great variety of flora and fauna. Our included tour allows us to discover the most beautiful parts of this mountainous region of Dalmatia, including a glass platform “Skywalk”!
We can get our walking boots on to make the climb to the highest peak in Croatia – St. Jure which offers views over the coastal towns and cities, neighbouring islands, olive groves and abandoned vineyard terraces. These are just some of the scenes that can be captured with your camera!
The Skywalk is a real treat where you can walk out on a purpose built glass walkway to take in the vastness of the scenery around you!
Our delightful hotel is situated in a prime position on the seafront in Makarska on the Dalmatian Riviera. It is just 50m from the beach under the pine trees and just a few hundred meters from the beautiful main square with its pretty church.
Facilities include a bar and two restaurants and an outdoor swimming pool. The pebbly beach sits just in front of the hotel.
Our spacious en suite rooms come equipped with television, safe, minibar and WIFI.
Transfer time from Split airport to Hotel Osejava is approximately 90 minutes.
As part of you holiday you have two included excursions – details of these will be given at your welcome meeting.
Important information – the included excursions do include walking as part of the tour and may not suit those with limited mobility. Please note that these excursions, although included are not compulsory.
Casual, cotton, lightweight daytime wear is the order of the day. Comfortable shoes are a must for sightseeing. Smart casual clothes will be ideal for the evening, with the emphasis throughout being informal but with no shorts or vests in the restaurants in the evenings. Early and late season evenings can be cool so do ensure that you take a cardigan or jacket and even some rain wear.
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. In order to give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.
Your Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection to cover drivers, porters and hotel staff of €20.00 per week. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate add on.
