We tour the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, visit the Met and pay our respects at the 9/11 Memorial.
Extras
On arrival into New York, we transfer to our hotel for check-in. This evening, we start our singles holiday in style with a welcome drink, before heading out for dinner in a nearby restaurant.
We begin our morning with a boat trip to the iconic Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, where more than 12 million immigrants passed through on their journey to America. Next, we walk through the Financial District and the renowned Wall Street, with stops at the Merrill Lynch Bull and Trinity Church before visiting the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. We then travel by air-conditioned minibus to the trendy Park Slope area, whose brownstones remain unmatched in the rest of the city. To cap off our day, we walk over the famous Brooklyn Bridge, marvelling at the sweeping skyline of Downtown Manhattan ahead of us. The rest of the day is at our leisure
After breakfast, we visit Central Park whilst it’s in full bloom. The oldest public park in the United States, it’s also the most visited, with over 42 million visitors a year. We wander through the famous Strawberry Fields, see Belvedere Castle and pass Dakota Apartments, where John Lennon was assassinated.
This afternoon, we head over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Known locally as ‘The Met’, it’s one of the world’s largest and finest art museums, with more than two million works spanning 5000 years.
We have the rest of the day at our leisure.
After breakfast, we start our morning with a walk along the Highline – an historic raised rail line converted to a green oasis for the public to enjoy. It offers magnificent views in the heart of the meatpacking district, as well as art installations and beautiful gardens. We enjoy some free time at Chelsea Market to wander its stalls or treat ourselves to some lunch.
The rest of the day is at our leisure, before we meet this evening for our farewell dinner.
Our final morning in New York is at leisure, before our transfer takes us to the airport for our return flight home.
The Sanctuary Hotel is located in the heart of Times Square, making it an excellent base for exploring the city’s attractions.

Please note: At the beginning of your trip, your Tour Leader will ask if you would be happy to sign a photo permission form. This means that any photographs taken during your holiday can be used by Solos to share what the Solos experience is all about. It also means you have lots of memories to go home with! Details will be given at your welcome meeting.
WhatsApp Group: Just before the start of your trip, you will be sent an invite to the WhatsApp group which will put you in touch with your fellow Solos travellers and Tour Leader prior to your departure day. By choosing to join, you’re consenting to share your contact details with other members of your group. However, if you prefer not to join, that’s completely fine, and you can meet the group on your first day instead.
We recommend light layers in New York this time of year, with comfortable walking shoes.
There is often confusion on the question of gratuities, since it frequently depends on the type of holiday, location and, of course, your attitude towards tipping, as to what is normally expected. To give you a rough idea, we have given appropriate guidance below.
The Tour Leader will be on hand to offer advice or suggestions if required but gratuities are offered entirely at the sole discretion of the individual. We suggest a group collection at the beginning of your holiday to cover drivers, guides, porters and hotel staff of approximately $50. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip.
