  • Accommodation 4 * Hotel Antica Dimora Alla Rocca
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After breakfast at the hotel, today is free for you to explore Trevi independently.

The medieval centre of Trevi is a network of alleys and narrow streets still surrounded in part by the original defensive walls (built in the 13th century). The raised position of the town means it also has some exceptional views across the Umbria countryside as far as Assisi and beyond.

Or you may like to take an optional excursion to Assisi, birthplace of St. Francis, and visit the UNESCO World Heritage Basilica, or shop for artisan products in the medieval streets.

  • Accommodation 4 * Hotel Antica Dimora Alla Rocca
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After breakfast at the hotel we can relax by the pool before an early afternoon transfer to Macerata.

Set amid green hills, Macerata is a charming provincial town with a wonderfully preserved hilltop centre, its old town is threaded through by skinny cobblestone streets lined by honey-coloured brick palazzi and it springs to life in summer for the town's celebrated month-long opera festival.

We will have some free time to explore Macerata independently and maybe have a typical Italian aperitif before watching the opera at the Sferisterio Arena.

July departure - Il Trovatore opera by Giuseppe Verdi
Il Trovatore was written in 1853, by Giuseppe Verdi with a libretto by Salvatore Cammarano. It belongs to Verdi’s so-called popular trilogy and it is the epitome of opera Romanticism. Last staged at the Sferisterio in 2016, it offers a mixture of love, mystery and obscurity, moving from the intimate notes of “Tacea la notte placida” to the frenzy of “Di quella pira l’orrendo foco”.

August departure - Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Don Giovanni, written in 1787 is an opera in two acts with music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Italian libretto by Lorenzo Da Ponte. In this work, love, cynicism, rationality and boldness blend into a plot full of metaphors and enriched by timeless melodies, such as “Madamina, il catalogo è questo” and “Là ci darem la mano”. Don Giovanni was last seen in Macerata in 1991, staged at the Lauro Rossi theatre.

  • Accommodation 4 * Hotel Antica Dimora Alla Rocca
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

After breakfast at the hotel, we will transfer to Montefalco and visit a traditional Ricotta farm where we will enjoy an Italian family atmosphere and see animals living in complete freedom. Later we will taste some freshly made ricotta cheese and homemade yogurt before finishing off our farm visit with Italian wine tasting. We will taste 7 different wines.

  • Accommodation 4 * Hotel Antica Dimora Alla Rocca
  • MEALS Breakfast & Dinner included

Today we will have a guided gentle trek through the olive groves to the local family house (approx. 1.5 hours) where we will taste a Bruschetta with extra virgin olive oil produced by the family. Later we will walk back to Trevi and the afternoon is free for you to spend however you wish.
