Every summer, thousands of people flock to Verona to experience one of the world’s most magical opera festivals and enjoy the stunningly beautiful sights of Verona all at the same time. And with this three day city break in Verona, you could be one of them. Whilst in Verona, enjoy exploring the history and culture of the medieval old town, admire renaissance art in the Castelvecchio and catch a glimpse of Juliet’s romantic balcony at Casa di Giulietta. We’ll also enjoy an excursion to a traditional Italian vineyard, where you can relax and taste wines in the comfort of a modern, airy tasting room in the wine boutique.
Sharing the sights of Verona with a ready-made group of solo travellers, this unique Italian city break is one you won’t forget.
Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival, we transfer to our centrally located hotel in Verona. When evening comes, we can gather together and enjoy a welcome drink, before enjoying dinner in the hotel restaurant.
After breakfast, we explore the historic city of Verona – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our local guide will lead us on a walking tour of the heart of the city where we will see traces of its long history from Roman and Medieval eras, through to the Gothic and Scaligera periods. The guided tour of the old town showcases the majestic Castelvecchio castle and the Arco dei Gavi (Gavi’s arch). We stroll along Corso Cavour, see Juliet’s House, Piazza delle Erbe, Piazza dei Signori and Piazza Brà with the Arena.
This evening, we enjoy live opera in the largest open-air amphitheatre in the world – the Arena di Verona. The performance is Bizet’s Carmen, the tragic love story of Carmen – a girl from Seville and featuring the seductive Harbanera and rousing Toreador’s song. The seat tickets are in 1st sector Verdi* (*Subject to availability at the time of booking).
This morning, we hop on a coach from our hotel to the Casa Sartori in Pedemonte.
We will start with a walk through the park of Casa Sartori 1898, to then reach the historic vineyard Corte Brà, the first bought by the family; the tour will then bring you down to our cellars to discover the winemaking process among vats and barrels. After the tour, we sit down to a guided tasting of three of their most iconic wines: Marani(white), Regolo (ripasso), Reius (Amarone), served with a gourmet selection of locally produced artisanal cured meats and cheeses.
The rest of the day can be spent however you wish.
It’s time to say arrivederci Italy! After breakfast, we’ll have some free time before transferring to the airport by private vehicle for our return flight home.

Summer in Verona can be hot and humid, so it’s important to dress accordingly. Lightweight, breathable clothing in natural fabrics such as cotton is ideal for staying cool in the summer heat. Casual evening wear is recommended and comfortable shoes for sightseeing.
We suggest a Group Collection to cover guides, transfer drivers, and hotel staff of minimum £15.00 per person. Your Tour Leader will collect this on your behalf and distribute it accordingly, thus relieving you of the burden of who, when and how much to tip. The tipping of housekeeping will be left to your individual discretion (a small amount left in your room on departure should cover this and would be much appreciated). As is customary, ‘the hat’ will be passed around for the driver and guide on all optional excursions. For any meals that are not included in your itinerary, or taxi fares, your Tour Leader can advise of an appropriate % to add on.
Please note that the Arena di Verona is an open-air venue and performances can be cancelled due to bad weather. If it rains before a show and the performance is cancelled a refund can be obtained from Solos Holidays. If it rains after the performance has started and the performance is cancelled no refund will be given.
