Zell Am See Ski

Zell am See

With an enchanting lakeside location packed with charm, glacier skiing and the Ski ALPIN Card giving access to over 400km of spectacular, well groomed pistes, it is no wonder why Zell am See is such a favourite with skiers. The Zell am See-Kaprun ski area offers 138km of varied skiing to explore including the local mountain, the Schmittenhohe offering wide open pistes at the top with spectacular views of the lake below along with tree-lined runs further down the mountain. Alternatively catch the local ski bus to Kaprun and take advantage of the of the high-altitude skiing on the Kitzteinhorn glacier. The ski area of Zell Am See is now linked to the 270km Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Ski Circus covered by the Ski ALPIN CARD. Accessible by skiing from the Schmittenhohe Mountain side of Zell Am See to the middle station then either take the prepared ski route to the bottom or take the section 1 gondola. Once at the bottom it is a short five minute bus ride which runs every 20 minutes to Saalbach.

Skiers Choice

For beginners finding their feet, the nursery runs and area is at the bottom of the AreitXpress and Shmittenhohe gondolas with wide and gentle slopes to build up the confidence before progressing to the Blue runs above the Areitalm mountain with the views over the lake below. Intermediates are well catered for with excellent cruising runs on the Schmittenhöhe mountain or take the lift connection to the neighbouring Ski Circus for an abundance of runs perfect for a snow hungry intermediate. There is also the high-altitude slopes on the Kitzsteinhorn to experience a bus ride way. Advance skiers have a choice of challenges from the off-piste and moguls at Sonnenalm, the black runs back down to Zell am See village or perhaps tackle the world cup black descent of the Zwolferkogel in Hinterglemm.
