We’d like to introduce Jane, one of our ClubSolos Tour Leaders who has been leading our Tours for the last 16 years! Here she tells us all about the benefits of going on a ClubSolos holiday and shares her excitement for ClubSolos Crete 2021!
Meet our ClubSolos Tour Leader Jane
Hi, I’m Jane and I have been working as a Tour Leader for Solos for the last 16 years after giving up a hectic life working as an HR director at a PR firm in London. Although I enjoyed my job, it didn’t give me enough time to get out there and see the world! I had always dreamt of visiting many different countries, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. Working with Solos has enabled me to do that. It has been an amazing adventure and I have met so many wonderful guests over the years with whom I have been reunited with on subsequent Solos holidays.
The last trip I hosted was in February, which was a walking holiday to Malta and Gozo. The weather was amazing, and we had a wonderful guide – looking back it is made more poignant by just how carefree we all were on that trip. There was a lot of talk of future holidays and plans and I am looking forward to seeing them come to fruition in the near future.
Over the years I have hosted beach holidays, ski trips, walking trips, cruises and city tours and I have enjoyed them all equally! One of the questions I get asked again and again by clients is ‘what is my favourite destination’? I really have to answer that I don’t have one because each place is unique and offers a different experience whether it’s the sights and architecture of Florence or the wonderful jungle and beaches of Costa Rica – it is too difficult to choose! However, one place I do love to return to again and again is Crete. I hosted the first ClubSolos in Crete six years ago and now Solos have another eight venues worldwide!
Another question I am often asked by guests on a Solos holiday is, ‘what are the differences between ClubSolos and Solos’? Well, the key element of difference is that with ClubSolos the property is solely for the use of Solos clients. This means there is no having to get up early to put your towels on sunbeds or trying to get away from noisy families around the pool! It also means because we have the hotel to ourselves, we are more at liberty to have BBQ’s and dancing whenever we want!
I experience Solos guests returning every year to Crete. This isn’t just because it’s a beautiful island with amazing history and beaches, but because of the warmth and hospitality of the Iraklis family who own and run the property in Gouves. Obviously ClubSolos Crete has not been able to open this year but we are working with them to make sure we reopen next year offering a safe holiday environment.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the family again and reuniting with returning Solos guests and meeting new ones!
